History:

It all started four and half years ago when Ed Villela and John Dunkle, listmaster, began restoring their 914's.  They found each other on the 914 list as they were both faced with major rust in their restorations, welding on flares, stripping and painting their 'teeners, looking for parts, installing and trying to start their engines.  As it turns out their paths had previously crossed as Ed's father was once (not too long ago :-) ) John's Boss at the Philip A. Hunt Company in New Jersey, and John remembers his boss's annoying son visiting the offices.

After a full year of commiserating on their restoration projects they agreed to meet in Virginia Beach to show each other their accomplishments.  John, having just completed his 'teener trucked his 914 down to Virginia Beach not wanting to risk getting stranded along the way.  Unfortunately, Ed hadn't finished his so he showed up in a four door family vehicle. However, Ed had the last laugh as he introduced himself by asking John if his car was one of them Porsches with a VW engine.  The annoyed look on John's face and twitching of the jaw line was priceless.

Every year since the two have gotten together to show off their projects, share their garage stories, and drink beer.  Every year they invite all other 914 owners and Porsche owners to join them in a fun & relaxing weekend.
