You can Afford to be a Member - Thomas Sollars

What's hard about paying $18/YEAR?? That's $1.50/month!

That's:
One Compact Disk in a year.
or
One Large 3-topping Pizza in a year (if you don't tip the delivery person, = that is).
or
3/4 of a tank of gas in a year.
or
One "grocery store" grade bottle of wine (not Todd S's "Screaming Eagle") = in a year.
or
Dinner for *one* at Outback Steakhouse in a year.
or
Movies for two, and a small soda to share in a year.
or
3 cans of soda at work per month.
Etc.
You *can* afford to become a member, and it's the right thing to do.

For $18, you get 12 months of satisfaction that you're helping to support the constant stream of tech support, comeraderie, highly technical nit-picking of every last aspect of anything *remotely* related to these cars (sometimes in such detail you'll actually need to use higher math to keep up), answers to most all of your Porsche-related questions, usually within minutes, up to and including the knowledge that the girl in dC Auto's ad's name is, in fact, Tara (mmmmm..... Tara....) And, you get a cool card, a nifty sticker, discounts on Rennlist stuff, discounts on merchandise from sponsors, and a membership number you can feel smug about. ;-)

Anyway... $18! Do it! Do it!

What other folks are saying about Rennlist.com....

You can thank the web. I found you surfing a couple of years ago. I haven't been on the site for quite some time but I'm glad to see it is still going strong. I just couldn't stay away any longer as the information I have obtained in the past for my 928S has saved me literally thousands of dollars in repair costs as I have been able to do most of them myself. Thanks for the greatest Porsche site on the web and I am more than glad to offer my membership fee to you!

At my first Club Race - Race in the Desert sponsored by Arizona Region, I overboosted the car and blew a headgasket. John appeared, previously unknown to me, and said "let's fix it"! Together with Timothy Wiener of "Mind over Motorsports" in San Diego, we toiled into the night to get that car apart and back together. John, as it turns out, is the founder /owner of Rennlist, and one super guy. And let's dispense with the rumors...While John might want to dismiss the fact, he can work on Porsche cars. And he's good! Thanks John, and Tim, for making this Rookie race one to remember.

I found Rennlist whilst surfing every 944/968 site that I could find. This is undoubtably the best resource on the web for these cars.
Thanks!

Today I got on rennlist and found the 911 bulletin board to have invaluable tech. information to help my search for a 964.  I also put in a request to Highline looking for a 964 targa.  Rennlist is a great site!

Enclosed is my subscription to Rennlist.  I have acquired incalculable value from the list.  I have bought product from members at great prices, received incredible technical advice and am slowly on my way to becoming knowledgeable about my car, a 1997 Porsche C2.

I understand that you made me a lifetime member, but I wanted to send in a membership amount anyway as I really appreciate your efforts in maintaining Rennlist.

I just got my order in from the Rennlist Goodie store (www.rennlist.org/goods.).  Membership, decal, and hat.  What great service...I got Emails thanking me for the order, telling me when the order was shipped, and even what the USPS tracking info was.  When the package arrived tonight I found all my items and a hand-written christmas card from John and Jen.  WOW!  How many member strong are we now?...And they are hand writing cards with memberships.  Ouch!  Thanks John and Jen for the great service you provide.

I ordered a few shirts and hat from the goodie store.  Everything turned out very cool and Jen Munsen sent me a big Rennlist sticker as a thank you for a short delay in delivery.  Apparently there was a backorder on shirts and that slowed the order down a bit, but I didn't mind at all.  As a matter of fact they even sent each item separately as soon as it was available.  That cost more for them in shipping, but it sure was nice of them to do it that way!  Thanks for the big cool sticker!

In the last three years I have bought 9 924's, all for $800 or less. I have kept 5 of them and 3 of the 5 are daily drivers.

What I have learned is that I have been blessed with good fortune on buying these cars, and as a result I give away or swap parts with the only condition is that both parties pay their own postage. I have had great  sucess and my most recent swap has been to send a fellow Lister a complete throttle body in exchange for three valve adjustment screws.

In the past I had a get -together of (then Plisters) in the Pacific Northwest and even receive a down payment (with out asking) from a fellow Lister who lived in CA and was moving up to the Seattle area on a 924 that I  was selling.

I constantly run into to other Porsche owners and give them the address to "Our" site so they too can enjoy the fruits of your labor such as I have.

While I'm writing to you I might as well tell you  how much I enjoy the list and appreciate the work that you have done. I am 19 and I bought my first Porsche, a 86 944na, just a little while ago. I now frequent the archives feel very supported by fellow members of the list. Had I not found this list I probably would have purchased a lesser car. Thank you so much for your efforts.

I was referred the Rennlist by someone on the Bevelheads List (older Ducati motorcycles). I immediately "subscribed" when I saw the wealth of information being traded back and forth. That is, in my opinion, the great benefit of the Internet. (That and finding a guy in Australia who has original and reproduction Conti exhausts for my 900 SSD.)

In the short time I've been on the Rennlist, the Digest version has become my morning ritual. And oddly enough, I start the day much calmer and happier. Maybe it's being reminded WHY I'm at this office every day. Here in Wisconsin, we often need reminding, especially October-through-April. (White Christmas? Key-riced! We usually have a White fricking Halloween!)

In the short time I've been on the Rennlist, I've learned more than I have from all the books I've bought at mainstream bookstores opver the last decade. I've found dozens of sources, some for items I didn't know I needed (like that pesky tensioner upgrade) until I read it on the Rennlist.

The budget I had for getting my '74 back on the road was just enough for all the parts and labor. Then I discovered my shocks and inserts in rigor mortis. Three Rennlisters offered me 1) original but working struts for, like, two day's lunch money, 2) 1-year-old rears for 1/3 the cost of new and 3) advice that my old inserts could be rebuilt by the factory, or that they might even be home-rebuildable, and tips on how to do it.

For entertainment value alone, it's worth the cost of admission. In how much it's saved me, short-run AND long-run, well, let's just say I owe this list a lot. And after all, I can't buy ANY part for my car for $17.95 (unless it's used).

...I wanted to say, apologetically, I did not know there was a paid memebership. The list has given me more than personal value but given me montetary value as well. I would like to sign up for a two memebership and say thank you for the time I have had for free. The Rennlist is a great thing and I am proud to say I am now a part of your group.

     -J.N., Jacksonville, FL

I have subscribed to the Rennlist the day it opened. I haved saved countless dollars over the years and thought it was time to become a member. I came on-board when it was still called the PorscheList.

     -D.G., Orange Park, FL

called in to your main number and talked with a member of your staff regarding credit card membership payment. The lady I spoke with is gifted with extrardinary interpersonal and customer service skills. It was truly a pleasure speaking with her and I look forward to this years membership.
Thanks

Please thnak, John Dunkle, for his unwaivering support of the 928 Community & Owners Club. He helps make 928 ownership all the more special. I am joining only as a way to say Thank you, to him.

Rennlist is the best!
I've watched it grow since the porschelist days, but was skeptical of joining because I've been less than happy with some dealings I've had over the net. Rennlist has me convinced; you're right on target.

     -G.A., Bothell, WA

I consider myself to be a spectator of the list. I read this list message by message as it gets mailed to me every day, but just sit back and try to sponge up all of the info. I can. I joined Rennlist a year ago which is when I bought my '86 951 (in its unmolested stock form). When I found this list I sent membership dues in immediately (even bought a T-shirt). I have saved so much money in the past year by benefiting from everyone elses experiences and knowledge.

Not to be a "Buttinski" but........I have to say that this free racing list and all the other lists are worth their weight in gold. If I were in a Porsche high performance business, I'd be very excited that there would be such an incredible conduit to the Porsche community. Rennlist is the best thing to ever happen to the Porsche community since the Porsche car was created. I benefit more from seeing one day's worth of emails than any other way to spend the same amount of time.

For example, Robert from DC Automotive mentions special items he has from time to time and I love it. Notice however that he also responds to technical questions without a bunch of blatant commercial language. This is an example of the how a commercial vender can contribute and still receive benefit from the Rennlist and we can benefit from him. there are of course quite a few other commercial entities who also participate in the spirit Rennlist is supposed to be about. Imagine Auto's Over210mph and PorschePHD, Wayne and Bob from Pelican Parts, Skip and Jason from Paragon Products, Steve Weiner from Rennsport, Rod Birch from Car Audio Innovations, Brian
Buxton, Roy from Motor Meister used to a lot, Clay from DopkeDesign, Steve Timmons, Damon, not to mention all the others like Bill Gregory, Jens,Steve Masraum, Todd Serota, Craig O'Brien, Walt Fricke, Tom Sharpes, Larry Turner, Dennis Liu, Richard Roth, Thom Fitzpatrick, Chris Campbell, Eric Brown,Kevin Werner, Bruce Abbott, Michael Zois, Henry Kim, Adrian, Bill Verburg,Viken, John Dunkle, Michael Rothenberg, Thomas Sollars, Wil Ferch, Barry Lenoble, Chris Kuhtz, and on and on and on......there are lots of contributors............what a cool and intelligent way to share knowledge and our passion about this incredible automobile.

To anyone who questions this to the extent where they resist even considering some financial support, you are very foolish. Don't think this will all last forever without our support. John has graciously made it abundantly clear that no one should feel obligated to pay anything to subscribe to this list. However, my thoughts are along the lines of......why wouldn't anyone want to contribute if it helps ensure Rennlist stays
intact?

I am new to using anything on the web and I have sold half the old parts in my garage.  I've made friends, had people come to visit after buying parts and my wife loves me more.  Soon she thinks she will able able to park in the garage but with the money I've cleared I'll finished my race car and park it in there.  So thanks here is my support back.
