Who or what is RUF?

RUF is a bespoke tuning company with more than 75 years of automobile experience. A father and son business that flourished into many different variations of your favorite car manufacturer, Porsche. They often take your run of the mill Porsche and upgrade everything from the motor to aerodynamics, wheels, interior, badging and more.

CTR3

You may be wondering what the abbreviation, CTR3 means. It stands for Group C Turbo Ruf, 3. When you think of Porsches, you almost always think of the numbers associated with the different models. (911, 993, etc.) Regarding the CTR models, these are specifically enhanced sports cars tuned by RUF Automobile of Germany. The CTR3 was released 20 years after the original RUF CTR and 12 years after the RUF CTR2. What's different about this one is that it isn't using the traditional rear engine layout like the models before it. What's more is that this time, the tuning house collaborated with Multimatic - a Canadian company providing engineering components. Fun fact: This is the same company who assembled the Ford GT!

Clubsport

Now if the CTR3 wasn't stunning enough, RUF took it one step further and offered up an even more powerful, more enhanced version named 'Clubsport'. The Clubsport variant, which has been available since 2012, boosts the power to 740 bhp and maximum torque of 708 lb⋅ft torque. Oh, and not to mention, a generous addition of carbon fiber components from back to front.

Power house

The engine is a 3.8-liter Porsche flat-six and fitted with a pair of KKK turbochargers producing 777bhp and 722lb ft of torque. The suspension is a mix of Porsche 997 and bits of RUF custom units. Weighing less than 3000 lbs (thanks to lots of carbon fiber), the Clubsport can do 236mph, and get there rather fast. Zero to 60MPH in 3.2 seconds) The car can be ordered with 6-speed sequential manual or 7-speed Dual-clutch transmission.

Take my money!

The price? RM’s Sotheby's hoping someone will pay between €800,000 and €900,000 for the CTR3. Quite literally, one of the best Porsches money can buy. This specific car here is 1 of 7. Talk about rare! It was first shown at the Geneva Auto show this year and comes signed by company founder, Alois Ruf himself and even comes with a celebratory watch.
