Special Breed

Porsche's 911 GT3 has always been a big hit with enthusiasts, offering up a pure driving experience combination of naturally-aspirated power and a focus on handling. And while these cars often sport bright and noticeable paint jobs and graphics, this black 997.1 GT3 we spotted over at Bring a Trailer is a bit of a sleeper in all black. It's also quite a nice, low-mile example of this special breed, too.

Taking Care

Finished in Basalt Black Metallic with a matching black leather interior, this GT3 packs a few notable options, too. Including bi-xenon headlamps, Chrono Package Plus, PCM 2.1, and colored crest center caps. The previous owner took great care to avoid damaging their precious ride, applying a clean protective film to the front fascia and rear fenders, too.

Fully Equipped

This GT3 wears 19" silver alloy wheels wrapped in 235/35 front and 305/30 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Along with an aluminum trunk lid and doors, this gen GT3 came with lots of cool kit standard as well, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), traction control, and red six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with cross-drilled rotors.

Ultra Clean

The ultra-clean interior of this GT3 contains attractive and supportive hard-backed sport seats trimmed in black leather with Alcantara inserts, with the Porsche logo embroidered on the headrests. You'll also notice the dash-mounted timer, which is part of the Chrono Package Plus. This particular car is also equipped with an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a sunroof.

Proper Sports Car

The super clean engine bay houses the original 3.6-liter flat-six, which utilizes a dry-sump oiling system designed for track use. When new, the mill produced a healthy 415 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque and likely isn't far off that mark now. A six-speed manual transmission sends that power back to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential, just as a proper sports car should.

Popular Variant

Porsche's GT3 has become one of the most popular 911 variants ever produced, and it's easy to see why. And these days, even immaculate examples like this one are available at a pretty large discount when compared to their original MSRP. It's truly a great time to be a purist car fan, indeed.
