AOL Update

If you are an AOL user - please continue reading. If you are not an AOL user - please delete this message now.

I have just updated the "Auto-responder" to reflect AOL's latest addition to their "Internet Access and Mail Program". The work-around reflects AOL's horrific programming in mail send formats below, so you should now be able to post to Rennlist - even with AOL and their Netscape Webmail program.

If you have a complaint - please contact AOL, not Rennlist. I didn't program their stupid, silly and inane mail routines - and I'm proud to say I didn't.

"AOL 6.0, AOL 7.0 and AOL 8.0 Users AOL - in their infinite wisdom - defaults to Multipart/Alternative formatted messages which means that a single message sent from a user now contains BOTH a plain-text version and a formatted version. TO SEND PLAIN TEXT MESSAGES ONLY (without ANY HTML) - you have an undocumented option...

Alternative Option:   First - connect to AOL - and then start your AOL Web Browser with this   URL: http://webmail.aol.com

Log into your AOL mail box using the AOL Web Browser - and send mail from there. We do not know why AOL Webmail works - and the AOL Native mail program doesn't - but it doesn't. We doubt AOL can explain this either.

Another option is to connect to AOL and use another mail program (Netscape, Poco, Outlook, etc.) - to send or receive POP3 and SMTP messages from a non-AOL mail system. If you are a Rennlist Member - you can use my mail servers for your Rennlist conversations (http://ms2.rennlist.com)
