List Update, Rennlist Member Site, Excellence Magazine

It is with regret that I am forced to announce the formal closure of one of our lists - the Flamers list. Without going into specific details, as of 09:00 EST today, that list will be permanently closed to all posts.

However, during the next week - Rennlist will announce several additions and enhancements. One specifically is being developed for folks who have a Rennlist Membership card, and will be closed to non-members. Within that site, you will have access to some substantial Rennlist Price promotions, model specific FAQs, Technical "HOW-TOs", a closed member Web Discussion Board, member only e-mail lists, Rennlist special announcements and programs will be announced before they are disclosed to the general sites, and a few other surprises - so please stay tuned.

As many list subscribers have noticed that Rennlist has invested in a full color/full page advertisement on the inside front cover of Excellence Magazine in the December issue (CONGRATULATIONS to John Jentz (914 list) and Joe Jackson (924/944 list) for winning Rennlist Racing Team Shirts for being the first to post to the lists about this ad:-). This specific issue of Excellence is the single largest ever - and with new exposure to hundreds of thousands of Porsche enthusiasts worldwide - you may notice some new names on your list. Over the past 36 hours alone, Rennlist e-mail list subscribers have increased by several thousand. To you who may be new to Rennlist - you have our sincerest "Welcome!"..!!

I will ask, please - that if a new list subscriber does post a question - please take the time to help them out, rather then Flame them. So, instead of replying "You BONEHEAD - ITS IN THE ARCHIVES…", try to appreciate that many new folks have no idea *what an archive is!* - much less where to find it - or even that Rennlist has list/Board message archives. So a reply like "Hey (whatever their name is) - you may find some of this info in the archives, so just go to http://www.rennlist.com and click on "Search the Rennlist Message Archives".. If there is any unnecessary Flaming of new list subscribers - then you leave us no option but to take direct action - and frankly, as most know - it's my least favorite task of administering this site.

In short, if you assist in welcoming these new folks into Rennlist - the concept of the Rennlist Community is enhanced. For your efforts on this matter, you have my sincerest appreciation.
