1986 930 Turbo Projekt Mjølner is a RSR Thunderstruck Tribute

What was once a testbed for new parts by a performance shop is now living the life as a balls-to-the-wall 600 plus horsepower racer.

Would you dare?

These retro Porsche models had the dubious distinction back in the day of being quite the "widowmaker" due to boost coming in at the worst of times and sending the car shooting off and out of the driver's control. These were quite the manful to drive spiritedly but nonetheless added to the mystique an owner would carry who could pilot the beast with prowess and respect through corners.

It's experimental

That brings us to parts manufacturer D-Zug who took a 930 and turned it into a mobile guinea pig/brand ambassador for performance parts. Dubbed after Marvel comics famed hammer wielded by Thor (or whoever is deemed worthy of it), “Mjölnir" is definitely only for the mighty.

That power to weight ratio is ridiculous

At the rear is a 3.5-liter flat-six built with Mahle pistons, GT2 camshafts, and a MegaSquirt fuel injection all mated to twin Garrett GT30 turbos. The output from those and a few other parts is a whopping 607 horsepower and 544 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels all through a hefty 4-speed manual.

A little more sidewall would make us feel better

The build was inspired by an RSR Turbo as evidenced by the 3.0 RSR front fenders and rear quarter panels, and a 2.1 RSR front bumper. In the lower levels of the 930, there is a revised suspension consisting of Bilstein coilover shocks and struts, RSR arm bushings, 935 spring plates, and ginormous 10.5x18 front and 14x19 rear D-Zug wheels by Forgline.

It's internet famous

The car was featured in the March 2015 issue of Porsche Panorama magazine and sold at Auctions America’s Fort Lauderdale event for a high bid of $70,000. However, the car went on sale once more for substantially more at a price point of $109,000.
