Sweet Spot

The 992 Porsche 911, as has long been the case, comes in a variety of flavors. There's the base Carrera, the faster S, the incredibly quick Turbo, and the track-focused GT3, to name a few, but those seeking a 911 that can do everything well without breaking the bank will find the recently revealed GTS to be the sweet spot of the lineup.

More Power

The 2022 911 GTS is certainly not lacking for power, as its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six makes 473 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque - 30 more of each than the S - good enough for a 0-60 rip of 3.1 seconds when equipped with the standard eight-speed PDK gearbox, though real-world results will undoubtedly be a few tenths quicker.

Row Your Own

Those that covet a manual transmission can opt for Porsche's seven-speed unit, though that stellar straight-line performance will suffer a bit in the name of fun. Sport exhaust is standard on GTS models, regardless, which unleashes a bit more sound from Porsche's legendary flat-six powerplant.

Turbo Enhancements

The suspension of the GTS has received a few updates as well, including a 0.4-inch lower ride height, adjustable dampers, and unique tuning specifically for this model. Massive 16.1-inch front and 15.0-inch rear rotors come from the Turbo and are covered by staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear black centerlock wheels borrowed from the Turbo S.

Getting Lighter

Those that want more performance from the GTS can get it by selecting the optional lightweight package, which sheds 55 pounds via a rear seat delete, lighter glass, and carbon fiber seats. The package also adds rear-axle steering to boot.

Inside and Out

The 992 GTS also features a host of exterior enhancements similar to prior generations, including a black rear grille, spoiler lip, badging, and Targa bar, if so equipped. Both head and taillights get a darker treatment as well, while the cabin features Race-Tex material, a GT sport steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, and four-way adjustable sport seats.
