5 Cars the New Porsche Turbo S Blows Away

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S is stupid fast. Fast enough to make mincemeat of these highly touted performance cars.

1. Bugatti Veyron 16.4

What do $1.25 million dollars buy you? If you can find one, a Bugatti Veyron - once the fastest production car in the world. Powered by a 1,001 horsepower 16 cylinder, quad-turbocharged engine, the mighty Bugatti rockets to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds. But you can buy a new 911 Turbo S and squeeze past one on a roadway, all for the bargain price of $160,000. That's because the Porsche runs to 60 in 2.6 seconds, and does the quarter mile in only 10.7.

2. McLaren P1

Here we have another $1+ million dollar hypercar that you're not exactly going to find at a local dealership. The McLaren P1 is an amazing piece of machinery, one that uses a twin turbo V8 in unison with an electric motor to produce 903 total horsepower. With a curb weight of 3,300 pounds, the P1 is incredibly fast, sprinting to 60 miles per hour in only 2.7 seconds. Which is nice, but not quite quick enough to take down the 911 Turbo S.

3. Lamborghini Aventador

The Aventador, like all Lamborghini creations, is a wild looking and performing beast of a car. The $400,000 rocketship is the very definition of a supercar - 12 cylinders, 730 horsepower, poor visibility, cramped seats, and looks that make you want to put a poster of it on your bedroom wall. 0-60 happens in just 2.9 seconds, which is pretty darn fast. But it's still 3/10's of a second behind our Turbo S.

4. Ferrari 458 Speciale

The "regular" 458 isn't even close to the 911 Turbo S in terms of performance, so we did Ferrari a solid and compared it to the Speciale instead. The "special" 458 comes with more power, less weight, and a revised suspension compared to its base model brother. The 458 Speciale uses 597 hp to rocket to 60 in 2.8 seconds. And if you were wondering, not even the mighty LaFerrari can outrun the 911 Turbo S - Ferrari's flagship model matches the Porsche's 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds.

5. Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R is a much-ballyhooed car because it offers extreme performance at a fairly reasonable price. "Godzilla" uses 565 horsepower and some serious technological magic to produce incredible acceleration - 0-60 happens in only 2.9 seconds. But while the GT-R was the fastest kid on the block for a minute or two, it can no longer hang with the new Turbo S.
