1972 Porsche 917/10 Spyder - $5,830,000

Welcome to this Mt. Rushmore of sorts, for iconic Porsche racecars! Starting the list off is the eye-watering monster that is the L&M Porsche 917/10 Spyder. Intensely ridiculous in every sense, this racer was a dominant force in Can-Am racing in its day. And with its unrivaled flat-12 engine capable of over 1,150 horsepower, the 917/10 could launch to 100 MPH in a blistering 2.9 seconds. That's miles per hour... not kilometers.

1985 Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar - $5,945,000

Beating the aforementioned 917/10 by about $100K, the now famous 1985 Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar off-road racer was a revolutionary milestone for the German automaker. Subsequently, the lifted 959 has also served as a source of inspiration for many unique creations since. Significantly, Porsche's timeless AWD supercar, the street-legal 959 was a limited run homologation vehicle for Porsche to compete in rally racing!

1956 Porsche 550 Rennsport Spyder - $6,100,000

Turning the clock back to the early days of post-war Porsche vehicles, the Porsche 550 Rennsport Spyder was dubbed "giant killer" in the world of racing. That's because they weighed under 1,300 lbs and could run a 0-60 in 10 seconds, which is quite impressive for the time.

1982 Porsche 956 - $10,120,000

Bringing us back to center-cockpit Porsche endurance racers, the 1982 Porsche 956 is another unforgettable machine. The racing technology used in this car was so advanced for its time that it held the lap record for the Nürburgring Nordschleife with an unbelievable 6 minutes and 11.13 seconds. This record belonged to the 956 for a whopping 35 years, before it was beaten by another Porsche, this time a fully unrestricted Porsche 919 endurance racer.

1970 Porsche 917K - $14,080,000

And topping the list, as many could have already guessed, is the 1970 Porsche 917K that sold for over $14 million at Pebble Beach back in 2017. Powered by a flat-12 engine, the 917K achieved victory in just about every important endurance race in the world between 1969 and 1971. The rarity of these beautiful racers also contributes to the record-high bid.
