Artistic Icon

The Carrera 3.2 Porsche 911 is among the most iconic automobiles in history. And as has been evident in the last couple of decades, the more time that passes, the more appreciation the general public gains for these classic Porsches. It's no surprise, then, that we often see these old machines used as subjects of modern art.

Blank Canvas

One such art installation was hosted by the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec in Canada. The series called "Art Cars Project" featured a number of classic Porsche 911s that have been used as a canvas for the artistic expressions of several Canadian artists.

Detailed Application

The look of this particular 911 was designed by the aforementioned Lafrance. And the paintwork was applied autobody painter Yves Thibeault. Thibeault utilized a variety of methods to create the design, including airbrushing, hand brushes, spray paint, markers, finger-painting, and sanding.

Original Interior

Aside from the paint, everything else on the Porsche remains unaltered. The cabin of this once white 911 features its original Mahogany leather upholstery. Being more than thirty years old, it does show some signs of wear, too. The odometer shows 114K miles.

Masterpiece II

The work of Lafrance with the 911 as the backdrop has been titled “Masterpiece II.” The car has undergone the appropriate maintenance work recently prior to being listed for sale on Bring a Trailer. The current owner, who has had the car since 2013, reportedly has only put about 1,000 miles on it.

On The Auction Block

The Carfax report does indicate some mileage inconsistencies between 2011 and 2021, though. Nevertheless, the art project is being auctioned off with less than a day left to bid at the time of this writing. The current bid has, interestingly, been sitting at $57,000 for a few days now. It'll be fascinating to see what the Porsche ends up going for.
