Four Way Comparison

As has long been the case, the new 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo exploded on the scene, impressing everyone that has driven it. The new Turbo's explosive performance and balanced chassis provides a truly exciting driving experience, all at a price tag far lower than much of its competition. Thus, we found this comparison between the 992 Turbo and the Aston Martin DB11, Ferrari Roma, and Bentley Continental GT from Top Gear to be of particular interest.

Little Niggles

Each of these cars was designed to provide a reliable yet thrilling ownership experience, though Top Gear found the new Roma to be a bit lacking in that regard thanks to its poor visibility, awkward infotainment controls, and various other niggles like phone holders that are too small to hold one wearing a case.

Sharp Contrast

On the other hand, the rag calls the 992 911 Turbo S "the most powerful machine in the line-up, the definitive everyday supercar, and our performance car of the year last year - quite a compelling double act." It's a bit more expensive than the Bentley, but still a performance bargain by today's standards.

Major Annoyances

The DB11, on the other hand, proved to be every bit as frustrating as the Roma. "Not only because it's low, rakish, and prowling, but also irritating to operate," Top Gear said. "Not quite up to Roma standards as the steering wheel controls are logical enough, instead here it's the cramped layout and aging Merc-sourced infotainment interface that winds you up."

Plush Cabin

Unsurprisingly, however, the Continental GT won over our reviewers with its plush cabin. "The air of all-pervading luxury and quality is easier to achieve when you're not worried about how many kilos are being piled on. The Conti is the only one that you'd even consider trying to persuade an adult into the back of, is the most generous, the most imposing, and, despite the sheer number of buttons, as easy to operate as the Porsche."

Sugar Daddy

Regardless of its size, however, the 911 can't help but impress with its practicality. "Low-slung it might be, but the 911 Turbo S is just so damned habitable, Top Gear says. "OK, it helps if you’re tech-savvy as there's a lot of screen management to do, but the basics are impressive. Instead of the Ferrari’s frustrations, here you nod with appreciation at the all-around visibility, the masterful packaging, the cabin organization. Both it and the Bentley make you realize what's possible when you have VW as a sugar daddy to keep you in the development budget."

Do It All

At the end of the day, it's easy to see why the rag picks the Porsche and Bentley as the top two cars in this comparison. But while the Continental GT offers a true grand touring experience, the 911 Turbo is good at everything, providing a truly complete car for those that want something they can drive every day and also wring out when the road calls for it.
