Pristine Example

From the day it was revealed, the Porsche 918 Spyder was an instant classic and surefire collectible. Porsche's modern hybrid hypercar is both gorgeous to look at and amazing to drive, though some are more than happy to keep them sealed up and treat them more as appreciating assets than vehicles. Case in point - this incredibly pristine Weissach 918 that recently crossed the block at RM Sotheby's Open Roads auction.

Adding Lightness

This particular 918 is the 13th car produced out of a total production run of 918 cars. It's believed that around 230 of those were fitted with the Weissach package, which shaved around 100 pounds off the car's already svelte weight by adding carbon-fiber roof panels, rear wing, and windshield frame.

Record Setter

And that wasn't all - Porsche also gave the 918 Weissach a set of magnesium wheels, ceramic wheel bearings, titanium chassis bolts, and various aerodynamic upgrades to improve grip. The Weissach proved its worth at the Nurburgring when Mark Leib managed to pilot the car around that legendary track in a record 6:57.

Early Repaint

This particular 918 has actually been driven more than most by its original owner, covering around 12,000 miles in the last few years. Regardless, the car has been routinely serviced by Porsche, as one might expect, and was actually repainted at Porsche Center Berlin back in 2018 to fix any cosmetic imperfections.

Thorough Inspection

Porsche recently gave the car a 111-point inspection and noticed a few light spots in the paintwork, so the seller is throwing in an extensive two-day paint correction to fix those. It's an interesting car for those very reasons, as it's obviously one of the few 918s that's already been repainted in the name of perfection.

Mysterious Sale

As for what sort of price this car commanded at auction, well, that's unclear. The gorgeous machine didn't find a buyer during the sale, but an agreement was reached afterward. We imagine that the repaint might have resulted in a bit of a discount, but in reality, no 918 Spyder changes hands for cheap prices these days or ever.
