964 Turbo Gets Massaged for Optimum Output

Inspired By Bad Boys

Movies have been a massive part of our culture for decades. And that holds true not only for the States, but across the globe as well. For many of us, there are movies that leave a lasting mark that shape the course of our lives. For the UK's Richard Good, that movie was Bad Boys. And the lasting effect was his love for the 964 Porsche 911.

A Throwback

“I think everyone who watched Bad Boys fell in love with the car and I knew one day that I’d have one,” Good remarked when speaking to Fast Car magazine. This beautiful build was featured almost a decade ago. The tasteful nature of the project makes it worthy of another look all these years later.

The Search For a 964

Having owned several cars and tuning them over the years, he never lost his love for the 964. When people started tuning 964s, this caught my eye and reminded me of the ‘Bad Boys’ Turbo and I began hunting for a C2 964,” he recalls. His search took him far and wide, with one significant encounter at Eporsch in Surrey.

Waiting For the Right One

He saw the Slate Grey 911 Turbo at the shop, but it wasn't for sale at the time. "I left a £500 check in case I could change the guy’s mind. I wanted to make sure that I’d get first refusal! Two months later the phone rang and the car was available. I got the car for a good deal and GT1 immediately rebuilt the engine,” Good told FC.

Adding Performance

With the engine work taken care of, it was time to focus on other aspects of the car's performance. To enhance handling, Good opted for Variant 3 KW Automotive coilovers, which he calls “the ultimate suspension system.” The suspension setup also gives the car a perfect stance, which is further enhanced by the  8×18 and 11×18-inch wheels by Image Wheels.

The Ultimate 911

The custom Milltek Exhaust system lets the turbo motor breathe more freely and express itself more audibly. The restrained modern upgrades enhance the 964 Turbo's performance while preserving its drivers' car character. A successful project in most Porsche enthusiasts' eyes, and what Richard Good calls "the ultimate 911."
