BBi Boom

What once began as a side project of two former Porsche Motorsport employees that operated out of a small roll-up door shop has blossomed into one of the nation's premier Porsche tuning outfits. BBi Autosport has become a well-known name not only for their accomplishments in motorsports but also for their dedication to quality and craftsmanship in their offerings for Porsche's of all generations.

No Job Too Big

SpeedHunter's Trevor Yale Ryan was recently invited to tour BBi Autosport's Huntington Beach, CA facility. Thankfully, he shared a wealth of photos for us Porschephilles to ogle over. From this tour, we are able to see the sweet showroom, a workshop stuffed full of Porsches, and the R&D department where a number of trick bits are produced/assembled.

Stunning Showroom

From the sidewalk, the BBi building is a rather subdued structure that looks much like the average Southern California business until you enter into the lobby. Once inside customers are greeted with what is essentially a candy shop for auto enthusiasts. Organized from oldest to youngest, a classic 356 sits beside a heavily upgraded 996 GT3 cup car, 996 turbo, and factory 997 racer,  which are adjacent to a pair of 911 Turbos (997 & 991) and a 991 GT2 RS.

Arranged With Offerings

While the cars (like this rather special GT2 RS) are obviously the staples of the showroom, various goodies are also on display such as numerous wheel offerings, performance parts, a full-motion driving simulator, and a smattering of awards and recognition that the company has received.

Porsches Here, There, and Everywhere

As if the lobby was not awesome enough, the shop area will surely put any automotive enthusiast into sensory overload as exotic cars are packed into every nook and cranny of available space. In one shot alone a Carrera GT, 997 GT2, 991 GT3 (undergoing a GT3 R conversion), and Jeff Zwart's 2015 GT3 Cup Turbo Pike's Peak car can be spotted. The stuff that dreams are made of...

Peak Porsche Power

BBi builds cars that range from mild to wild, but they typically place an emphasis on big horsepower with their turbocharged builds. One car currently in the works is the "BBi TurboCup" racer that is being designed specifically for the upcoming Pike's Peak Hillclimb. The former factory race car will use Xona turbos, air-to-water intercoolers, and a complete MoTec engine management system to achieve 1,400 horsepower.

Refreshing The Classics

Besides building big horsepower monsters, BBi also dabbles in upgrading older cars to carve canyons and tackle race tracks. For example, this little 964 has undergone a suspension refresh that includes BBi's 5-axis CNC'd uprights with KW coilovers, a Brembo big brake kit, and a tasteful pair of BBS e88 wheels. Other upgrades include a BBi roll bar, fixed bucket seats, electric power steering system, improved AC system, and a host of bolt-on engine upgrades.

Research & Development

Across the parking lot from the main building sits BBi's manufacturing facility where they are able to design and produce their own products in-house. With modern equipment such as 3-axis CNC machines and 3D printers, they can make just about anything they can conjure up.

Engine Expanse

In addition to the R&D area, BBi also has their own engine assembly area where interesting projects can be spotted in various stages of completion. Here, the team has all of the necessary equipment to build engines capable of 1,500 horsepower or simply overhaul an aging flat-six.

Customer Satisfaction

Overall, BBi Autosport looks to be a tidy and well-organized shop that is capable of build race-winning cars as well as performing basic Porsche maintenance, and everything in between. With such pride and passion for their work, BBi has been known to be one of the most welcoming and warm shops that any Porsche owner would feel comfortable taking their car for maintenance and modifications.
