Going going gone

These days, the 996-gen Porsche 911 is still a bargain proposition. Mostly because, well, people just don't particularly care for those controversial headlights. But despite this, interest in 996s is slowly rising, and it doesn't do much to quell clean, low-mile rides like this one-owner '04 GT3 that recently crossed the virtual block at Bring a Trailer.

Minor Incident

There isn't much that this particular GT3 doesn't have going for it. For starters, it's a one-owner car with just 55k miles on the clock. Painted the ever-attractive shade of Seal Grey Metallic, the exterior is in immaculate condition. The rear wing, bumper cover, and taillight did have to be replaced/repaired following an on-track incident, but that's about all there is to note here.

Suspension Mods

The car has been treated to a host of mods as well. Underneath, you'll find things like Moton coilovers, Turbo rear toe links, and upgraded bushings. The brakes have been gone over as well and enhanced with GiroDisc rotors, stainless-steel lines, and Pagid yellow endurance pads.

Accentuated Interior

The black leather interior is also in nice shape and sports a few nice accents including grey deviated stitching, body-color trim, aluminum instrument faces, a carbon/aluminum emergency brake and shifter, and automatic climate control. There's also a bolt-in roll cage present, though only the rear section is installed at the moment.

Street and Track

Porsche fans will undoubtedly notice the many mods present here as well. They include a B&M short-throw shifter, an integrated radar detector, fire extinguisher, a Kenwood head unit, MB Quart speakers, 10″ subwoofers, and a trunk-mounted amplifier. Clearly, the owner of this 911 used it as more of a dual-purpose street/track machine.

Performance Enhancers

That means you'll also find a handful of performance/drivetrain mods as well. They include welded coolant fittings, RSS engine mounts, an IPD intake plenum, a BMC high-flow air filter, 82mm throttle body, a lightweight flywheel, an upgraded clutch pack for the limited-slip differential, and a Fabspeed exhaust including headers, sport cats and mufflers, an x-pipe, and tips.

Waiting Game

Overall, this 996 GT3 is a nice example of a car that's been lovingly cared for yet used as intended over the course of its life. Regardless of its many fine attributes, the car failed to sell with a high bid just south of $58k, however. So at least for now, it'll have to wait to learn who its second lucky owner will be.
