British Legends Edition Porsche 911 Celebrates English Racers

Porsche might be a German brand, but that doesn't mean they don't appreciate their legendary British drivers.

1. Tale of Two Countries

Porsche is as German as a company can get - there's no doubt about that. But a large portion of their motorsports success over the years has come with British drivers behind the wheel of their legendary race cars. So it only makes sense that the automaker pays tribute to that partnership with an exclusive, limited production version of the 911. And now, they've done exactly that with the British Legends Edition Carrera 4 GTS.

2. Building Cars for Legends

When you want to build a car honoring a special, specific group of people, you generally need to consult with folks of the same ilk. And that's exactly what Porsche did by bringing in drivers Derek Bell, Nick Tandy, and Richard Attwood. And fittingly, each car has details paying tribute to their unique achievements. In the case of 1970 Le Sarthe winner Attwood's GTS, that means Guards Red paint with white decals and the number 23 on the side. Bell's ride, pictured here, is painted Sapphire Blue with white and gold stripes, a tribute to the 5-time Le Mans winner's 956. Tandy, a 2015 Le Mans winner, received a GTS finished in the same Carrara White Metallic as his 919 Hybrid.

3. Subtle Touches

Despite their differences in livery, each Legends Edition Carrera shares a number of similarities as well. All sport a Union Flag and the driver's signature on the B-pillar, carbon door sills, and center console, which is covered in Alcantara. The same material covers the edges of the floor mats, as well as the steering column cover. Satin door mirrors further set these special 911s apart from the crowd.

4. Fully Loaded

Each of the British Legends Edition cars begins life with plenty of options, too. With goodies like rear steering, a carbon dash, the SportDesign Package, and Sport PASM for starters. The cars are then transformed into something special, of course, at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen. And we'd say the finished product serves as a proper homage to these three important Brits.

5. But It'll Cost You

Even better, you can (probably) buy one of these special 911s. But it'll cost you, of course. Prices are set at just over $160k for the red Atwood car, and about a grand more for the white Tandy or Blue Bell. That's a healthy increase over the base price of the Carrera 4 GTS, but in all fairness, these are heavily optioned cars. And by the looks of things, they'll be pretty rare, too. There's no word on official production numbers from Porsche, but fittingly, these British Legends cars are only on sale in the U.K.
