A Connoisseur of Cars

Up for auction is a fully-restored 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR IROC once owned by the infamous Pablo Escobar. Collecting Cars hosts the auction and Road & Track reports that bidding is already nearing $1M.

Exchanging Hands

This example is just 1 of 15 1974 models produced. Escobar was not the only notable owner however as the car was originally purchased by racing legend Roger Penske. Emerson Fittipaldi manned the wheel in those days of the inaugural IROC season. IMSA driver John Tunstall later purchased the vehicle from Penske and it was through Tunstall that Escobar eventually purchased the Sahara Beige 911.

Fully Restored

Escobar would hold onto the vehicle until the '90s. Through Escobar's ownership, it was raced in 953 bodywork. Eventually, the 911 made it back to the States and was restored over three years courtesy of RennGruppe Motorsports who brought the car back to its 1974 IROC specs.

A Notorious Ride

The 911 still maintains its original ”high-butterfly” 3.0-liter flat-six and five-speed manual transmission. It also bears the decklid, spoiler, matte black headlamp covers, and other features unique to IROC models. Fittipaldi’s name can still be found atop the windshield and doors. If you happen to have Escobar-level money maybe take a swipe at the bidding. Just know that owning this particular car might put you on an FBI watchlist.
