1. 20 years of experience

GT2 champion David Donohue who had the previous job of Client Relationship Manager that involved answering questions that 918 Spyder owners had, recently took on Pikes Peak. David's resume is like a racer's dream check list with things like racing prototype cars, winning the Rolex 24 Hour GX class, racing the Carrera GT to a lap record of over 196 mph and winning six GTS class victories in the American Le Mans Series.

2. Competitors from far and wide

The 95th Broadmoor Pikes Peak Hill Climb which took place on June 25th is a sprint race goes to the top of Colorado's most famous fourteener. Fourteen rookie drivers got their chance to test their mettle against Hill including representatives coming from France, Belgium, and the UK.

3. Racing to the clouds

"We are thrilled with this lineup of rookies who have all achieved tremendous success in their racing careers," said Executive Director, Megan Leatham. "We carefully examined their credentials and found a wealth of experience with each of these drivers. This is perhaps our finest field of rookie drivers ever to tackle America's Mountain."

4. Something from here and that from over there…

To help him with the job, David needed a very special Porsche that required a bit of Frankensteining to put together: take a 2014 911 Turbo S then swap in parts from a 911 GT3R, a 911 GT America, a 911 GT3 Cup and shake liberally. Now garnish with a twist of citrus and you've got what Donohue and co have dubbed the 911 Turbo S GT3R America Cup.

5. Was it Smokey the Bear?

Romain Dumas got there the fastest this year with a time of 9 minutes and 5 seconds on a ridiculous day that included hail, snow, rain, a mountain goat, and a bear on the course. Donohue and PCS Motorsports fell just mere seconds off of the winning time that Dumas had but vowed they would return to try again in 2018.

6. A vow to return.

"We can speculate all day long as to what we could have done differently to make up the 3 seconds...All in all, it was a great team effort and we put the competition on notice. That car will be back next year poised to make an even stronger Time Attack record attempt," remarked Jeff Delio, PCS Motorsports crew member.
