1. Zelectric Motors

Zelectric Motors is a company based in San Diego, California. They specialize in turning classic Volkswagens into electric-powered vehicles that can go the distance. They switch VW engines with 100% electric powertrains, as well as modify and upgrade the classics. The company can handle roughly 10 vehicles per year, and the starting price for one of these vehicles is $68,000. This time, however, they took it a step further.

2. The Zelectric Porsche 911

Taking on another classic German car, Zelectric Motors turned a 1973 Porsche 911 Targa into an all-electric vehicle using an electric motor and a Tesla battery. If you've ever wondered how a classic 911 would handle with a Tesla Model S battery, you will finally get your answer, and it's impressive.

3. Zelectric Power

The 1973 Porsche 911 Targa got a dual-three-phase AC motor, which delivers 140 kW, producing approximately 188-horsepower. Like the Tesla Model S, the torque is delivered instantly, which is a whooping 214 pound-feet of torque, produced with the help of the 54 kWh Tesla battery.

4. Electric Performance

With quite a major engine replacement, you would think that the weight distribution would be completely off, but the 43:57 weight distribution has not changed at all. The electric conversion adds 300 pounds, but the conversion puts out more power than the original flat-six 2.4-liter engine. The new setup allows for a maximum speed of 150 mph, as well as faster 0 to 60 mph time.

5. Efficiency

The Zelectric conversion adds more power to the classic Porsche, as well as higher top speed, so is there a catch? Since it is an all-electric vehicle, you can't just go until you find a gas station. However, the range on this Porsche is quite impressive, as it allows you to go for 180 miles, on an eight-hour charge. The lifespan of the battery is 12 to 15 years, which is also quite impressive.
