Designer Creates Taycan Sport Turismo Wagon

Porsche is working on a Taycan Sport Turismo anyway, but this designer imagines what it might look like.

Natural Progression

Before the Taycan was the Taycan and simply the Mission E, quite a few folks thought that it looked a little too much like the Panamera. Those claims have died down a bit as the Taycan has differentiated itself stylistically speaking, but the comparison had graphic artist The Sketch Monkey thinking - what if Porsche decided to build and sell a Taycan Sport Turismo in the vein of the Panamera wagon? Well they actually are doing that, but he imagines what it's going to look like in this nifty video.

Personal Touch

We're still waiting for the Taycan Sport Turismo to make its debut, which was previously rumored to be happening this year. We've already seen the car out testing at the Nurburgring, and it looks pretty fantastic. But The Sketch Monkey's design seeks to make the rear of the car just a little more aesthetically pleasing, and he gives it his own personal touch that really sets it apart.

Popular Choice

That process starts, of course, with just a stock photo of a regular Taycan. Our artist then massages the rear lines to create his wagon, something that he's admittedly endeared to after growing up in Sweden. After all, while folks in the U.S. may not love wagons like they once did, the utilitarian vehicles remain popular in Europe for their car-like driving experience and added utility.

Making Sense

Of course, SUVs have essentially taken over as the utility of choice for Americans, but strict emissions standards and high fuel prices in Europe make even newer and more efficient utilities a more difficult sell. Thus, this EV wagon is certainly a great answer. And who really takes their fancy SUV off-road, anyway?

Shooting Brake

Watching this process also confirms what we already know, too - the Taycan's shape lends itself nicely to wagon form. Much like the Panamera, which many think actually looks better as the Sport Turismo. The lines simply flow better all the way back, giving both of these cars a nice shooting brake-like look.

Big Success

The Sketch Monkey agrees and believes that the Taycan looks better as a wagon than a sedan. And who are we to argue? As the design comes together before our eyes in Photoshop, it just makes too much sense not to make this a reality. And personally, we think that Porsche could sell quite a few of these electrified wagons, too.

Coming Soon

The Taycan Sport/Cross Turismo will eventually become a reality, probably sooner rather than later. And that's just the beginning of Porsche's electric dreams. Soon we'll have a Macan EV and many more models to choose from. But even though the brand builds some formidable performing SUVs, we'll take a wagon over them any day.
