Perfect Combo

Few classic sports cars have developed as much of a bespoke aftermarket as the Porsche 911. Countless restoration shops, custom builders, and restomodders out there have created every conceivable version of a classic Porsche at one point or another. DP Motorsport have added to their portfolio by creating this mouth-watering 1985 Porsche with '70s RSR character.

Starting with an '85 Carrera

No stranger to noteworthy Porsche builds, DP Motorsport approached this project with the aim of bringing the pure race car look and feel of the 911 RS and RSR of the early 1970s into the Porsche of the following decade. Their starting point for this creation was a 1985 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe.

The Vintage Look

From there, the team at DP Motorsport went to work creating a retro body kit, transforming the looks of the car. The exterior modifications include new bumpers, a hood, and wider fenders. There's no better hue than a deep grey to bring out the beautiful lines of a classic Porsche. The builder's choice of paint here is GT Silver Metallic from the Carrera GT.

Upgraded Performance

As the build process makes its way down into the engine bay, the 911's motor was replaced by a 3.6-liter flat-six unit from a later 964. With 290 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque, the mill provides plenty of grunt to propel the lightweight 911 frame. Helping the Porsche navigate tight corners with ease is an upgraded suspension system with a KW Clubsport coilover kit.

No Heat

The weight-saving ideology of the RSR is carried into this build in every facet. So much so that the heat exchanger for the HVAC system is nonexistent. The only way to warm up the driver and passenger on a cold day is through the ceramic fan heater, which warms up the floor. Defogging the windshield and windows is done with the help of electrical heating wires.

Purposeful Interior

Speaking of the bare-bones interior space, inside the cabin you will find retro racing bucket seats with a mix of fabric and leather upholstery. Steering the sporty 911 is done via a Momo wheel and through a power steering system. Fiberglass-reinforced braided plastic is used in the door panels and the lower section of the dashboard, as well.
