Familiar Cayenne With a New Interior

The Porsche Cayenne as an extremely recognizable luxury car, which is why the German manufacturer didn't do much to update the look of it with the 2019 model. Instead, all of the car's updates were focused on the inside of the vehicle. And boy oh boy, there were aplenty.

1. Touch-screens everywhere

The 2019 Cayenne has done away with nearly all of its successors' physical buttons in favor of screens and touch-sensitive panels. The main focus of the cabin is the 12.3-inch touchscreen, borrowed from the Cayenne's sister vehicle, the Panamera. Additionally, right in front of the driver is a combo of physical gauges as well as two, 7-inch displays that can be adjusted to display driving information like navigation, audio, diagnostics, etc.

2. New self-driving perks

Nobody buys a Porsche for the purpose of using it as a self-driving car -- this brand of vehicle is largely purchased by those who enjoy the actual driving experience. Still, though, technology has advanced, and Porsche will not fall behind when it comes to updating its cars with the latest and greatest conveniences the market has to offer. As such, the 2019 Cayenne now offers drivers a night vision camera, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist. Additionally, the car allows rough-terrain drives to be recorded in detail so drivers can look at a video and educate themselves on how to improve their skills.

3. A bevy of sensors

There are a TON of sensors aboard the 2019 Cayenne, all meant to help the SUV behave more like one of the manufacturer's low sports cars. In fact, there are so many sensors that a 48-volt electrical system has been added to support their performance. This makes the Cayenne one of the first gasoline-powered cars adopt this sort of technology.

5.Other changes

Not on the interior but under the hood there will be the optional all-new 2.9-liter powerplant with a pair of turbos that will put the horsepower at 434 bhp and 406 lb-ft of torque.

The Cayenne will go on sale in mid-2018 as a 2019 model in the U.S. will come in base and S flavors. The Cayenne is a big moneymaker for the Porsche brand with the vehicle being the number 2 seller right after the smaller Macan crossover. The redesign of the Cayenne marks the move for the SUV to sit on a version of the Volkswagen Group's MLB platform, which is shared by the Macan and various other Audi models. The platform change will give the Cayenne a lighter curb weight that will aid in handling and acceleration.
