Standing Out

Many generations and iterations of vintage Porsche vehicles are going for big money these days. And it's easy to see why, given how fantastic they are. But while many of those cars are a lot alike, we haven't seen anything quite like this beautiful Albert Blue '72 that recently crossed the virtual block at Bring a Trailer in some time.

Making the Rounds

This particular 911 has certainly made its rounds, living in Texas, Tennessee, the Pacific Northwest, and Florida over the years. But despite that, it has maintenance records going all the way back to 1974, which is a great thing, obviously. It's also had some work done along the way to keep it looking its best.

Notable Features

That includes a repaint in the original Albert Blue back in 2000. A great deal of prep work went into the job, and it certainly shows despite the paint's age. The coupe is equipped with a few notable features, including a sunroof, Euro headlight rings and taillights lenses, and a 1972-model-year-only external oil filler door located on the passenger-side rear fender.

Few Changes

The interior was originally finished in Cork leatherette but has since been redone in black with replacement material for the seats and headliner. It's also an original E03 option group-equipped car, which means that it came from the factory with air conditioning. The odometer shows 39k miles but has reportedly rolled over.

Health Check

The original Bosch fuel-injected 2.4-liter flat-six engine remains and looks quite clean as well. Along with the aforementioned maintenance, a compression test was also completed recently to check up on its health. The Type 915 five-speed manual transmission is a replacement piece, however, and isn't original to the car.

Solid Deal

Despite a few niggles, this 911S still managed to sell for $185,000. But most feel like it was easily a $200k+ car. Whether that's a result of the non-original interior or transmission, well, we're not sure. But at least the buyer seems to have gotten a pretty solid deal as a result.
