Track-Bound EV

Most were skeptical of the fact that Porsche wanted to build an EV, as good as the Mission E Concept looked. Luckily, all those doubts have gone to the wayside, as the production version - the Taycan - is a fantastic car that's selling incredibly well so far. Now, Porsche is looking to build more EVs, including one designed for the track, which made Hakosan Design wonder - what if the German automaker decides to create a Taycan GT1 Evo-style racer?

Enticing Follow-Up

The GT1 Evo is, of course, a follow-up to the 911 GT1 racer, and we think it looks fantastic. The basic styling of the car is 100 percent Taycan, which has been treated to the typical race car modifications including big flared wheel arches, air intakes, a different hood design, unique mirrors, and much more.

Adding Downforce

Of course, this racing Taycan is a two-door, not a four-door like the production version, lending it a sportier look. The car has also been treated to a host of louvers, front and rear diffusers, and lots of wings, including that giant rear piece that towers over the car and adds a considerable amount of downforce.

Impressive Numbers

Hakosan goes into more detail about their imaginary creation, adding that it will be packing 1,500 electric horsepower and an impressive range of 700 kilometers, or 434 miles. These statistics would be impressive indeed, but they're also not terribly far-fetched given the advances in EV batteries made in recent years.

Electrified Endurance

The question, of course, is when will EV tech advance to the point where we can viably expect to see electric racers competing in endurance events? Aside from offering a range comparable to gas-powered vehicles, charging speeds must also be improved to the point where pit stops take minutes - not hours.

Bright Future

That day is certainly coming, the only question is when. On the bright side, advancements made on the track will only trickle down to road cars, and we customers will reap the benefits. Thus, the future of Porsche EVs looks rather bright, even for us die-hard ICE vehicle lovers.
