Epic Celebration

Porsche is a company proud of its history in motorsports, as it should be. They've enjoyed a lot of success over the years, and have many milestones to celebrate. The latest such celebration took place at Solitude Revival 2019, where Porsche brought out a host of classic cars and legendary drivers for one epic event.

Coming out of Retirement

This special event took place at the former circuit now used as a public road - Solitude Racetrack. It's set deep within the woods between Stuttgart and Leonberg. Solitude remained in use as an official racetrack until 1965. And ever since 2011, it's been reactivated for one weekend every two years for the Solitude Revival.

Historical Ties

Out of the many events Porsche attends each year, they never miss this one. "For us, taking part in this event is both an obligation and an honor," said Achim Stejskal, Head of Historical PR and the Porsche Museum. After all, the brand has quite the history at Solitude.

Epic Experience

Of course, anything on wheels is welcome at the Solitude Revival, even though the vast majority in attendance are race cars. They're allowed to head out on the track to participate in driving demonstrations, which is quite the experience for those lucky enough to attend.

Special Lineup

This year, the Porsche Museum brought out the 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GTL Abarth and even the 917 KH Gulf for a go. Le Mans winner Stéphane Ortelli was lucky enough to get behind the wheel of the latter for a few laps, along with fellow Le Mans champ Marc Lieb.

Classic Spirit

André Lotterer, who will race for Porsche in Formula E this upcoming season, couldn't help but find himself infected with the classic racer spirit. "You get a wonderful feeling for that time and the origins of our racing history. The Formula 2 drives like a dream on the racetrack. You get really excited about pushing it to the limit."

Time Machine

And he wasn't the only one feeling taken with these special vintage machines. "I’ve fallen in love with this car," added Hans-Joachim Stuck. "And Solitude is fantastic – everything in it, fast and slow, uphill and down. I would really like to have been one of the drivers back then."
