11/10 Awesome

Lazante has just become one of the greatest Porsche tuning company of all time by swapping in turbocharged Formula 1 engines from the '80s. Arguably the only thing better than an original 911 is one with a highly exotic race-derived V6 underneath the hood.

Exact Specs

The engines are TAG McLaren derived units that sport twin turbos and should output an estimated 500 horsepower. Originally a high strung race motor, it will be necessary to detune these before allowing them to be put in customer cars. Power bands in Formula 1 are not exactly forgiving.

Glorious Sound

Hearing one of these pull away at a light would leave you baffled. The sound will surely be unmistakably F1 and not the normal flat-six Porsche engine we have all come to know and love. It will be a symphony of all the things that were great about the '80s.

Costs Unknown

Costs haven’t been revealed yet, but given the substantial modifications that have gone into acquiring and installing these engines, it can’t be cheap. I would expect these cars to be going for $400,000 at least, given the current climate of Porsche madness around the world. Less than 12 Lazante 911s will be built.

Old is New Again

One of the best parts about these engine swaps is that they represent an entirely new way to modify the 911. Of course, we have all seen companies like Singer that pump out some of the finest examples the world has seen, but this is something entirely different. This is Lazante and the desire to own one is strong.
