Daily Slideshow: Laura Siegemund's One-off Frozen Berry 911

When most of us win something it's normally something that is a bit inconsequential to our lives. However, sometimes folks win an item that others would possibly give up their first born for. We think Laura has landed quite the big Porsche fish.

I wonder how it looks in person?

What you see above is tennis champion Laura Siegmund's prize for the biggest win so far of her career. The funny thing is that Laura wanted something unique for her drivable catch that went beyond what was available for factory paint. So, looking every bit of a nice treat for a humid summer afternoon is this Frozen Berry Metallic color that the GTS Cabriolet is swatched in.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur

The special paint job was done as part of the Porsche Exclusive treatment which has been responsible for more one-off changes for buyers for over three decades. The program became so popular that Porsche spun the program into a standalone department: Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The department has been responsible in the past for the 2012 911 Club Coupe, the 2009 911 Sport Classic, the 1992 Turbo S 964, and last year's gold Turbo S Exclusive Series 991.

Winning big at Porsche Grand Prix

The win that enabled Laura to be bestowed with a Porsche was on April 30th of last year at the Porsche Arena in which she won the 40th Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The match was a grueling one that lasted for two hours and 30 minutes and ended with gold confetti raining down on Laura in a GTS Cabriolet.

“Laura really has played some outstanding tennis this week,” praised Tournament Director Markus Günthardt. “The way she plays, she gets the spectators right behind her and she deserves the win.” Praise for the tournament also came from Steve Simon, CEO and Chairman of the WTA, who said, “The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix has been a highlight on the WTA Tour for many years now. The anniversary tournament has however topped everything and set new standards.”

We don't blame her at all

Near the end of the year is when the car was finished and presented to her by Anke Huber, Operating Tournament Director of Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, and Frankow Dorrow, the director of the Stuggart Porsche Center. Having a high-profile athlete driving a car that's the product of the Exclusive program is a great advertisement to the wealthy that they now can have Porsche alter their vehicle instead of an independent shop.

“It’s for sure the most coveted winner’s trophy on the WTA Tour and it was an unbelievable feeling when I won it,” said Siegemund, who has been out injured for most of that year. She has had to overcome a number of setbacks in her career, however, and is also now looking positively into the future: “I definitely want to be back competing at the 2018 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.”

So what did she get?

The GTS Cabrio has a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat six in the rear putting out 444 bhp and can be had with 2WD or AWD. For the transmission, buyers will have the choice of a manual or the easy to use PDK system for all those paddle lovers. However, for those who want the purest form of 911, the seven-speed manual will the only reasonable choice. Transmissions aside, the GTS Cabio can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 193 mph.
