Manthey Racing

Manthey Racing has made a name for itself over the past couple of decades by building and racing Porsches. Headed by former racecar driver, Olaf Manthey, the German racing team has found success in various Porsche competitions, as well as endurance racing, including competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

They became a trending topic again in the world of Porsche not too long ago with the unveiling of their 991.2 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR. But they're not resting on their laurels, as they've turned right around and tuned yet another Porsche racing car. This time, the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is the recipient of the Manthey Racing touch.

Same Power

What the German racing team has done to the Cayman GT4 begins and ends with the vehicle's body, however. The powertrain and drivetrain remain unaltered. The 6-speed PDK transmission helps transfer the 3.0-liter flat-6 motor's 420 horsepower to the wheels. Which is more than enough performance for the ultra-light racer.

Lighter Body

What they've actually done with the Cayman is all in the spirit of weight savings. But how do you make a light-weight, stripped-down, track machine shed even more weight? The folks at Manthey Racing have found a way! They started by swapping out the rear wing and the front and rear bumper covers with carbon-fiber replacements.

Every Pound Counts

But they didn't stop there. They also brought in lighter headlights, a lighter battery, a polycarbonate windshield, as well as the BBS wheels. All told, the Manthey Racing team are able to shave off a little over 100 pounds off the Porsche. The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport "Trackday" MR also comes with an eye-catching black and white wrap. These precise driving machines are available for just under €150,000.
