More Power

Porsche has been telling us for months now that the all-new 2021 911 Turbo S was going to be fast. And who are we to doubt them? What we didn't know, however, was just how fast. Until now. Despite the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker still virtually unveiled its new Turbo, which packs a whopping 60 additional horsepower in relation to its mighty predecessor.

Amazing Acceleration

Officially, the new Turbo S packs a forced-induction 3.8-liter flat-six engine producing a stout 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. That power flows through a Turbo-specific 8-speed transmission to all four wheels, which propels the car from 0-60 in just 2.6-seconds. Which, amazingly enough, is a tenth of a second quicker than the last GT2 RS, which packed 700 hp.

Stop and Go

Even if you opt for the drop-top Turbo S, you'll still match the GT2 RS's 0-60 time. The quarter-mile comes in just 10.5-seconds, and both the hard and soft top models will keep going until they reach 205 miles per hour. And if you hit that lofty speed, the Turbo S can slow you down quite quickly thanks to massive carbon-ceramic brake discs and 10-piston front calipers.

All Round Performer

Porsche didn't just design the new Turbo S to be a drag strip demon, either. Thanks to a massive rear wing, it's capable of generating plenty of downforce. And the car is 1.8 inches wider up front and 0.7 inches out back than the previous-gen Turbo, which undoubtedly aids handling. The new all-wheel-drive system can even send up to 368 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels when needed.

Nailed Down

Porsche dialed in a series of software and hardware changes that it claims will enable the active suspension to eliminate body roll as well. Altogether, they say these many changes help keep the new Turbo S nailed down in the corners, as well as in a straight line at high speeds.

Notable Changes

There are a host of additional notable changes as well. Including the new center-lock 20" front and 21" rear wheels, the aforementioned rear wing, functional air vents in all four fenders, and rear exhaust tips that are unique to the Turbo.

Price Jump

The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is set to land at U.S. dealerships late this year. Pricing starts at $204,850 for the coupe and $217,650 for the convertible, which includes a mandatory $1,350 destination charge. That's a bit of a jump from the previous gen's $191,950 and $204,250 price tags, but then again, you're getting a good bit of fancy new kit and extra performance for your money.
