Never-Before Seen

Porsche recently unveiled several concept designs that were previously completely unknown to the public. These designs give us a look into the creative process of Porsche's styling team. It is commonplace for manufacturers to develop concepts that never make it outside the confidential confines of the design studio. But Porsche has treated us with some cool concepts to daydream about!

The photo above is of the Porsche Vision 920, a study of what Porsche's return to endurance racing would look like.

Porsche 904

When VW created the super-light XL Sport concept car, Porsche designers wanted to use the platform to create their own concept. The result is this Porsche 904 concept car, an experiment with a 2-cylinder Ducati engine.

919 Street

Yes. This is a hypercar concept based on the legendary endurance racing world championship-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid. Yes, it would have been the greatest hypercar on the planet, had it made it into production.

The unmistakable Porsche design identity has been incorporated perfectly into the racecar's proportions. While this concept may not have made it past a model, we might yet see Porsche utilize their learnings from motorsport in their road cars in the future.

Porsche Vision Spyder

An ode to the classic 1954 550-1500 RS Spyder, the Vision Spyder blends the pure philosophy of the '50s race car with modern, sleek Porsche styling.

Porsche Vision Spyder

An incredibly cool concept and one would imagine, the world's best drivers' car, had it been produced! Unfortunately, a full-size model is where this concept hit the end of the road.

Vision Renndienst

Bet you never thought a van could look this cool! The Porsche Vision Renndienst, which translates to race service, fits 6 people and has a central driving position. This futuristic electric van also never made it past a full-size model.

Macan Safari

The Porsche Macan Safari is the result of the Porsche design team imagining a super off-roading Macan. The Macan has been transformed into a 3-door SUV and given off-road-capable equipment and a rugged look.

906 Living Legend

The Porsche 906 Living Legend concept car was the end result of a project with an open-ended brief. The designers were told to come up with a supercar design that doesn't necessarily carry a classic Porsche design theme. Incredibly, this concept was created in 2005. And you can clearly see its influence on current Porsche models.

918 RS

The supposed successor to the Porsche 918, the 918 RS was a concept with goals to pick up right where the 918 left off. The primary aspiration for the 918 RS concept car however, was track performance.

Porsche Vision E

With Porsche's entry into the Formula E competition, the designers were challenged to create an aspirational design for what the Formula E race car of the future would look like. And this cool rendering shows what they came up with!

911 Safari

And lastly, the Porsche 911 Safari. This 2012 Porsche concept actually built into the working prototype you here. You can never go wrong with combining Porsche's rich history with its modern design language.
