One-Off 911 Turbo S Pays Homage to Racing Legend
This one-of-a-kind creation is as unique as the racer that inspired it.
Tribute to a Legend
Pedro Rodríguez is widely considered to be the most successful Mexican racing driver of all time, a distinction earned through 11 titles in the World Championship of Makes - now known as the World Endurance Championship (WEC), two Formula One Grand Prix wins, a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and four 24 Hours of Daytona wins. Eight of Rodriguez's 11 WCM wins were in a Porsche 917 KH with Gulf Oil livery, and now, the automaker is paying tribute to this legendary driver with a very special 911 Turbo S.

Somber Anniversary
Sadly, Rodriguez lost his life 50 years ago at the Norisring street circuit in Nuremberg, Germany, which is what prompted Porsche Latin America and Porsche Mexico to create this special tribute car, which was done with the help of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. Dubbed the "Porsche 911 Turbo S 'One of a Kind' Pedro Rodríguez," the unique sports car was revealed during Sportscar Together Day at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Pegaso, in Toluca, Mexico.

Unrepeatable
What's particularly interesting about this special 911 is that it is, quite literally, the only one of its kind, and it can't be replicated, either. "This car has unique elements that no other car in the world could have," said Camilo San Martin, Director of Porsche Mexico. "This configuration, with these specific details and equipment, has been locked in the Porsche configurator, as well as in the production system so that this car is literally unrepeatable."

Inside the Cabin
Inside the cabin, this special 911 is upholstered in graphite blue leather with orange stitching. The familiar 917 silhouette is featured on the front seat headrests, while Rodríguez's signature can be seen on the center armrest and on the carbon fiber dashboard trim.

Familiar Look
Like the car that inspired it, this 911 Turbo S is finished in Gulf Blue with an orange stripe. The wheels are unique pieces painted high-gloss black with an aluminum center lock, while the doors feature Rodriguez's number 2 enveloped by a white circle, just like the legendary driver's race car.

Finishing Touches
The B-pillars of the Porsche feature Rodriguez's name and signature along with the 917's silhouette and the colors of the Mexican flag. That same element can be found on the carbon moldings on the lower door frames, which light up when opened. Finally, the names of the eight races Rodriguez won at the wheel of the 917 KH are engraved under the rear spoiler.

Up for Grabs
Even the car's key is special, as it too is finished in Gulf Blue with Rodriguez's signature, while a bespoke set of graphite blue leather luggage with orange stitching will accompany the car as well when it is sold at auction later this year, with all proceeds going to unspecified charities.
