Fastest Luxury Sedan

While taking the hybrid Panamera to tracks around the world and setting new records might be an idea right out of publicity 101, the attention it will have garnered for the car is certainly well-deserved. The "6 laps, 6 records" thing might be nothing more than a catchy ad campaign for the Porsche, but the truth is, upon closer examination of just what the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid brings to the table, it's easy to see why this luxury sports sedan is so special.

The 6-Track Tour

The 6 track records were set with Porsche development driver Lars Kern behind of the wheel of the Panamera. They set record-breaking lap times in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, India, Dubai, and Qatar. This tour solidified the Porsche as the fastest four-door luxury hybrid on the planet.

In Comparison

While that title sounds nice, it really narrows the list of qualified competition down. However, in reality, the hybrid Panamera Turbo S is actually quite competitive compared to the world's best performance automobiles even without the "4-door luxury hybrid" string attached. In fact, the Panamera's lap times were almost matching those of the 911 GT3, which is a dedicated sports car.

It's a Porsche After all

If you could bring Ferry Porsche back to life in 2018, like any Porsche enthusiast of the old days, he would be baffled by the idea that Porsche now makes luxury sedans and SUVs. But he can rest assured that the company has held on to its DNA and its core values better than any auto manufacturer in history. In truth, even the most family-friendly of Porsches is a sports car at heart.

Performance

And like any Porsche, it delivers the numbers... and then some. The cutting-edge turbo hybrid powertrain can propel the 5,000-lb behemoth from a stand-still to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds! And the top speed s rated at 192 mph. At the same time, you can enjoy an amazing 81 MPG fuel consumption for your daily commute.

No Compromises

While in reality, the Panamera is in direct competition with high-end luxury cars such as Mercedes and BMWs, the fact that the Porsche more than holds its own in luxuriousness almost plays second fiddle to the brand's age-old philosophy of building nothing but sports cars. So, it is no surprise that the amazing interior space, the creature comforts, the overload of high-tech features, and unbelievable day-to-day practicality are provided without making any compromises to performance. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is a high-performance sports car through and through.
