Enticing Opportunity

In the world of Porsche, Brumos is a legendary name. The iconic seller of Porsche vehicles and racing team has been around for quite some time now, experiencing tremendous success in both of its endeavors. That includes this 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 4.0 Brumos Edition, which is going to cross the block at a future Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida January 2-12.

One of Five

Brumos Racing swept the 2011 Rolex Grand-Am GT Championship title in a factory-prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car with drivers Hurley Haywood, Andrew Davis and Leh Keen behind the wheel. To commemorate this historic occasion, Brumos special ordered five 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars built to the same specification as the winning machine.

Highest Honor

This car is one of those five. It's also eligible to compete in the Porsche Club of America GT3 events in two dedicated classes - the GTC5 Carrera Cup for factory-built GT3 cars of 2012-2014 vintage, and Class GTA2 for 997-series factory GT3 cars. This particular car has been test-driven and approved by Hurley Haywood, which is about the highest honor a Porsche racer can receive.

Proper Tribute

Each of these five special Brumos cars was fitted with a 4.0-liter engine instead of the smaller-displacement 3.8-liter 2011 version, each engine being assembled by Porsche North America Racing. After receiving the cars from Porsche, Brumos applied its trademark blue and red striped livery to the white Carrera bodies, along with the iconic number 59 to pay proper tribute to the championship racer.

Ready to Race

Even though it's not technically a racer car, this 911 was built for competition and is ready to race in its current form. It features a host of racing goodies including a welded-in roll cage, electronic fire extinguishing system, MoTec ADL2 with integrated data recording, carbon fiber doors, and a carbon fiber adjustable rear wing.

Speedy Package

Power, of course, comes from the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that produces 450 hp. It's backed up by a 6-speed sequential manual transmission. Rounding out the speedy package is an adjustable MacPherson strut front setup with multi-link rear suspension and a set of center-lock wheels ready for speedy pit changes.

Proper Use

For those looking to dominate the competition at some Porsche Club of America and Porsche Owners Club racing events in style, this Brumos 911 GT3 Cup 4.0 looks like just the ticket. And despite the car's prominence and rarity, we hope that's exactly what the new owner does with it.
