Rarest of the Rare

It goes without saying that only a select few people will ever experience the joy of owning a Porsche 918 Spyder. Partly because only 918 were produced, of course. But also because you have to have a rather substantial pile of cash to buy one. And we imagine that this Acid Green example up for grabs at Mecum Auctions will bring in a little more money than most, because it's one of just two cars painted this color.

Retina Searing Hue

Overall, this retina-searing 918 is number 43 of the 918 produced. It's Acid Green color also adorns the brake calipers, as well as some contrasting accents in the black leather and suede interior. It also proudly wears this bright hue on the seat piping, seat belts with accent stripes, and painted vehicle key.

Few Miles

Sold as part of the Michael Fux Collection, this particular 918 has traveled just 510 miles since it was brand new. Which isn't terribly uncommon with this special model, as most folks don't drive them much. As a result, the car remains in simply stunning condition, looking like it just rolled off the assembly line.

Carbon Fiber Bits

This particular car is also equipped with a host of carbon fiber bits and additional goodies including the front splitter and rear wing, along with carbon fiber removable roof panels, mirrors, and interior pieces including lightweight bucket seats, a leather-wrapped Sport steering wheel, backup camera, and carbon floor mats.

Still Relevant

Even today, the 918 remains an incredible machine with impressive performance figures, a full nine-plus years after it was originally introduced at the Geneva Auto Salon. And it's every bit as radical an idea as it was at that time, especially when you realize that it's the successor to the mighty yet old school Carrera GT.

Instant Collectible

The 918's hybrid drive system is still a masterful piece of engineering and one that's translated to some serious racing success as well. Thus, these cars became instant collectibles when they hit the market, and have only grown in value since then.

Head Turner

With an auction estimate of $1.5-$1.6 million, we imagine this bright green example will continue to push that envelope. After all, 918s don't get much rarer than this. And even if you aren't particularly a fan of the incredibly bright color, it's guaranteed to only enhance the head-turning capability of an already attention-grabbing machine.
