As part of the proceedings at the Porsche Cup race weekend, the North American branch of the German manufacturer has continued the great tradition of celebrating top-notch restorations. Categorized under the umbrella of Sports Cars Together Fest, the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is a prestigious competition that encourages excellence in the realm of restoring Porsches.
Highest Quality
Porsche Cars North America has done well as an organization to build excitement around classic 911s. There aren't many better ways to ensure these coveted icons of automotive history remain as such for new generations of enthusiasts to continue to enjoy them. The level of respect for this restoration challenge is apparent in the quality of the work displayed by the participants.
Elite-Level Finalists
This year's Sports Car Together Fest, held at the Porsche Cup race weekend over at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, hosted the three finalists of the restoration challenge. Aside from the ultimate winner, this group of immaculately-rebuilt Porsches consisted of a 1982 Porsche 911 SC by Porsche Palm Springs and a 1996 911 Carrera 4S by the folks at Porsche Exchange.
Restored to Perfection
The 1989 911 Turbo features here is a project by Champion Porsche, who entered the competition for the very first time this year. They went all out with their candidate, making sure every nook and cranny was renewed, either using authentic Porsche Classic parts or by restoring the existing parts to perfection.
Champion is Champion
The extensive criteria set forth by the judging committee from PCNA scrutinized the restoration process as well as the end result. They weren't the only ones voting, though. Fans in attendance were also given a voice, and able to vote for their favorites of the event. There was no shortage of amazing work in the competition, but in the end, Champion Porsche took the championship. It was no easy feat, but the folks at the shop were determined to create a masterpiece of a restoration project, and that's exactly what they did!
