Porsche Collector Snags 80th Porsche on 80th Birthday
After 50 years of collection Porsche road cars and race cars, this Austrian collector celebrates 80 Porsches at 80 years old.
80 Years, 80 Porsches
Celebrating the purchase of his 80th Porsche vehicle, Austrian collector, Ottocar J was the recipient of very special treatment from the Porsche Community Management Team. Although this wasn't the first time he had picked up a Porsche right out of the factory in Zuffenhausen, to celebrate this amazing milestone, he was allowed to affix the Porsche crest on the hood with his own hands!
Starting the Collection
The tradition started in 1977 when Ottocar picked up his first Porsche from the factory. The car that started it was a 911 Carrera 3.0. And over 43 years later, the 80-year-old picked up Porsche number 80. And this time, it was a Miami Blue 718 Spyder. He also received a personal congratulations from Porsche's head of the supervisory board, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche.
It All Started on the Track
Ottocar's Porsche obsession was first sparked more than 50 years ago. And it all started with racing. He recalls being on the race track and seeing all these amazing Porsche cars fly past him on both sides. And that's when he decided to start saving up for a 911E. Over the years he has added several notable Porsche racing cars to his collection as well.
Racing Collection
In his collection, you will find a Porsche 917, a 956, a 904, a 964 Cup, and even a rare eight-cylinder 910. Staying true to his love of racing, Ottocar has kept all these race cars in driving condition. They are all driven regularly and take part in classic racing events.
Beautiful "Living room"
Of the 80 Porsche he has purchased throughout his life, he still currently owns 38. And he loves driving them around. "I can drive a different one every day of the month. And two on the weekends," he remarks. But it's not just the amazing collection that is awe-inspiring. It's also the beautiful atmosphere of the garage in which they live. He calls it his "living room." And it is filled with cool memorabilia and assorted decorations.
Driving Collection
He won't name a favorite car. And why should he? It would be like asking someone which of their 38 children they love the most! He's not the type of collector who loves to sit and looks at his cars. He loves being out on the road and driving his various Porsche. And when it comes to driving fun, they don't get much better than Porsche.
