Making Dreams Come True

The Make-A-Wish Foundation originally came about back in 1980 as a way to help a seven-year-old boy with leukemia achieve his dream of becoming a police officer, and in the decades since, has fulfilled the wishes of countless children diagnosed with critical illnesses. Recently, Porsche donated a whopping $2 million to this special cause to help celebrate its 75th anniversary, and as a result, 75 more children have already seen their wishes fulfilled.

Flying High

Ultimately, Porsche notes that this sizable donation will help fulfill the wishes of 356 children by the time it's all said and done, a number that pays homage to the company's very first production sports car - the 356. The list includes an 8-year-old from Switzerland named Jeanie, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Jeanie always keeps a toy owl by her side as a companion through this fight, but recently, she was able to see the real thing up close and personal at a local zoo. “It was an experience that Jeanne will carry in her heart for a very, very long time to come," her father said. "By the way, at the end of the day, Jeanne had decided that she wanted to become a falconer.”

Making a Video

Then there's 11-year-old Jung Jaeung from South Korea, who suffers from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and yet, wanted to help his sister fulfill her dream of making a music video. Make-A-Wish helped bring that dream to reality with the help of director Lee Ho Yeol and Porsche Korea, who taught him how to fly a drone and edit videos with a Taycan used as a prop, to boot.

One With Nature

17-year-old German resident Leon was recently diagnosed with brain cancer, but the big-time nature enthusiast is refusing to give up on his dreams of learning survival training. Thanks to Porsche's Make-A-Wish donation, Leon was able to participate in such a class recently with an outdoor guide before he headed to the Porsche Experience Center for some time on the off-road course and driving simulator.

Small Sampling

Of course, this is just a small sampling of the hundreds of children that Porsche's generous donation will assist in that manner. “Porsche is synonymous with dreams. And for us, financial success and social responsibility go hand in hand”, said Porsche Chairman of the Executive Board Oliver Blume. “Together with our partner Make-A-Wish, we want to give children and their families an extra boost of hope at a difficult time.”
