The location

At the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, between the 110 and 405 freeways you know there are Porsches running about freely, but did you know that there is a restaurant hidden on the roof? Porsche executives were keen on putting an Experience Center in Los Angeles since out of all their dedicated buyers, 23 percent of all Porsche sports cars sold in the United States call California home. While not in immediate Los Angeles, it is nearby in the city of Carson which is just twenty minutes away give or take via the freeway.

The designation

The restaurant is named 917 after the famous Le Mans-winning car that is perhaps the greatest racing car of all time. The car gave Porsche their first overall wins at Le Mans for 1970 and 1971 and gave them sweet satisfaction after being beaten by the Ford GT in previous years.

Ambience

With views of the driver development track, the sleek and modern setting that diners would be enjoying reverberate with the sentiments of design that Porsche enjoys with the lineup of vehicles they build. The menu, which has seasonal choices so that each dish is as fresh as possible, offers diverse flavors and playful formations.

Save a seat

If you wish to just have a nice view of Porsches driving about on a track while you eat, but have no inclination of your own to get behind the wheel of one, then you're in luck. You can make a reservation on OpenTable if you'd like to secure a spot for a weekday lunch or a weekend bite to eat. Also, there is a private dining room for any exclusive engagements and a small perch outdoors is you'd like to fully take in the roadgoing action.

Accommodations

The philosophy behind the Southern California location is German engineering and California lifestyle melded together. The PEC is also open to hosting events that go from 50 to 500 guests if you are so inclined. The center can provide an unforgettable backdrop that will amaze your party no matter if your occasion is a social or corporate affair.

The sustenance

The food, which looks amazing, has received rave reviews as you would expect based on the clientele that Porsche expects to visit such a destination. The chef, Matt Lee, comes by way of The Getty at which he was the executive chef. On the menu, you'll find fares such as ahi tuna, beef and dumplings, and an Angus beef burger named after the 917. As mentioned earlier, the chef only uses seasonal ingredients but there is also something that he does to maintain that the food is as delicious as possible; he also only purchases locally.
