1. 1987 924S

At Auctions America in Fort Lauderdale, Florida there will be a plethora of Porsches up for auction that many enthusiasts will want to get their hands on. Up for bid also will be memorabilia such as books, watches, scale models, complete engines and vintage Porsche racing suits.

The 924 was the car that showed the world that Porsche could not only design a front-engined car but also produce and market one that almost didn't make it to production. The 924S was not only nicer to its occupants because of a better suspension system over the 944 it also had the spoiler from the 924 Turbo that gave it a better drag coefficient from .36 to .33. If someone opts to purchase this car they will be joining a very limited group of owners who own the 87 924S. When the car went on sale only 6,947 units went to US customers which accounted for almost 78 percent of Porsche's total 924S run.

2. 1986 944 Turbo

Some of the other items up for auction include Brumos Racing suits once worn by Porsche drivers Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood. Gregg, nicknamed "Peter Perfect," was one of the greatest drivers to have ever piloted a Porsche, having won the Daytona 24 alongside Hurley and six IMSA GTO championships. Hurley is no slouch and won't the Daytona 24 five times and 24 Hours of Le Mans three times as well.

Front-engined Porsches have always struggled to match the appeal of the 911, but if you want something rare that is finally getting some attention, then the 944 Turbo is the car for you. The car has a 0-60 time of six seconds and has the handling to put a smile on the face of any enthusiast looking to take the car through its paces. The public has been picking up these cars from as little as five thousand. If you decide to purchase one of these, you'll be in for a frugal treat.

3. 1958 RSK Spyder Replica

This auction isn't that widely attended in the motoring community so there are some great steals that could happen here. So many great low-mile examples up that could use a nice deserving owner that will appreciate the car fully.

This racing car ran from 1957 to 1962 and was the development of the 550A with modifications to the body and suspension. It was a mid-engine layout that employed a 142 horsepower engine that entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1957, but failed to finish due to an unfortunate accident. The RS Spyder variant went out in 1961 driven by Masten Gregory and Bob Holbert to a class win at Le Mans that year.

4. 1983 911SC Cabriolet

Finally! We have gotten to some flat-six goodness that comes in a Carrera. 1983 marked the return of the cabriolet option after being absent for a good amount of time. This car would make an awesome addition to any collection. The man that was put in place of the Porsche board back in 1981, Peter W. Schutz, wanted to put forth a Porsche sans top that would satisfy market demands of the time. If you are one who desires a great car that is an amazing investment and wistfully desire Italian alfresco motoring, then this is the car for me -- er, you.

5. 2003 911 Turbo

The 996 as we all know is the model that debuted the new water-cooled engine style that has carried on from this model to present. Departing from the air-cooled engines that had persisted from the start ruffled so many feathers that Porsche really had to do some PR work to assure enthusiasts that the brand would make things right. And make things right they did with the Turbo models. The engine put out 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive. This model of 911 Turbo can be had for a steal as are other 996s due to styling and IMS fears. Once you get over the "fried-egg" headlights and take care of the IMS issue this car can be a great starter 911 for a prospective owner.

6. 1988 Turbo Slantnose Cabriolet

This special 930 Porsche is the product of the factory-built Flachbau program that gives extra value with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The car has 282 brake horsepower and is presented to you in all of it's 1980's glory for your enjoyment. On a further note of how rare this car is, this is an example of one of only 591 factory built cabrios built for the US in 1988. I'm very curious about how much this blast from the past will go for this weekend at the auction as another example of recently went for $363,000!

7. 1990 Carrera 4

At the time of it entering the market, the Carrera 4 was the most technically advanced 911 to come out of Stuttgart. Keep in mind that the year is 1990 and there you have a 3.6-liter putting out 247 horsepower and sitting on a four-wheel-drive platform. This 911 was as beautifully understated as it was wickedly fast. With a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds at 102-mph and a top speed of 157 showed the world that the brand with the headlong horse meant business. In a review of the car back in 1989, Car and Driver remarked that  "The 911 Carrera 4 is the perfect sports car. It's a hare, not a greyhound. It looks and sounds and accelerates like the world's best 911, but it handles as if the Almighty himself did the chassis tuning. So direct. So drivable. So satisfying". For more information on the auction including registration, click here
