Transition to Gaming

Porsche originally announced its collaboration with the folks behind the iconic Gran Turismo video game series back in 2019, and we've seen a number of vehicles grace those digital titles since. However, months ago, Porsche announced that its stunning Vision GT racer - designed specifically for Gran Turismo - would be joining them, but very few details were given other than that, until now.

Past and Present

The Porsche Vision GT is designed to give us a glimpse at the automaker's future styling direction, but it also features some elements taken from the past and current lineup. Much of that is derived from the Taycan, including the Vision GT's quad-headlights and front end shape, as well as the full-width rear light bar.

Brisk Performance

Unsurprisingly, the Vision GT is an all-electric vehicle, and according to Porsche, cranks out an impressive 1,100 horsepower and 1,274 pound-feet of torque, which flows to all four wheels. Performance is brisk as one might expect, with 0-62 mph taking just 2.1 seconds with a top speed of 217 miles per hour.

Unique Cabin

No weight is given, but we imagine that the Vision GT is quite light for an EV thanks to its carbon and titanium construction. The cabin is uniquely designed as well, with a curved hologram display that's tailored to the driver and appears to float above the steering wheel. "We spent a long time considering the right material design consisting of carbon and titanium. The aim was to reduce weight while increasing performance," said Markus Auerbach, Head of Interior Design at Porsche. "In addition, sustainable aspects also play a role in forward-looking projects. For example, we only used entirely vegan materials in the concept car."

Future Car

"The appeal of a Porsche comes from its purist design," added Kazunori Yamauchi, President, Polyphony Digital. "And in terms of engineering expertise, both we and Porsche follow the same perfectionist philosophy. We share the same passion for racing and are looking to the future of the car."

Purely Digital

"A vehicle designed purely for the virtual world opens up exciting possibilities for us that are otherwise heavily regimented in a regular design process for a series production car," said Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. "Projects such as the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo are particularly valuable for us in the creative process. Further developing our clearly defined Porsche Design DNA and exchanging with designers from other industries is an important part of our work."
