Coveted Asset

There was a time, just a few years ago, when you could score a safety bumper-equipped Porsche 911 for cheap. Those days are sadly over, however, as collectors are snagging up every air-cooled 911 in sight. That includes this stunning '86 Turbo we spotted over at Bring a Trailer, which hauled in an impressive $109,000 at auction. But when you take a close look at the car, it's pretty easy to justify that price tag.

Show Worthy

This particular Turbo lived most of its life in Northern California and has accumulated just 27k miles over the years. Thus, as you'd imagine, it remains in pretty amazing condition. The original Prussian Blue Metallic paint shines nicely, and the car was even nice enough to spend some time on display at the Ault Park Concours d’Elegance in Cincinnati.

Few Touch Ups

There have been a few touch-ups over the years, of course, which is to be expected for a car of this age. The hood, front bumper, and headlight bezels were repainted at one point to get rid of rock chips. The passenger side rear quarter was also resprayed due to some scraping from the fender lip. But otherwise, the rest of the paint and bodywork is original to the car.

Proper Wheels

Body-color matching Fuchs wheels are always our choice on this vintage of 911, and they certainly look great here. New Bridgestone Potenza RE11 tires measuring 205/55 up front and 245/45 in the back were just mounted recently, so the new owner won't have to worry about that for a while. And while some may not like the giant whale tail from this era, we're obviously digging it.

Power Everything

The black leather interior of this 911 is likewise in very nice condition, save for some leather repair on the driver's seat and part of the dash that's started to separate. Otherwise, it's all Porsche Turbo luxury here, with power everything including the seats, windows, and locks.

Power Upgrades

The only real modifications were done to this 911 lie under the hood. The engine has been upgraded with a Kolken turbocharger and Billy Boat intercooler, along with a Billy Boat exhaust system. Shifts are handled by the factory 4-speed manual, and the driver can monitor things via an NHS boost gauge that's been added to the interior.

Easy Reversal

Overall, this classic and super attractive 911 has a lot going for it. But regardless, in this case, the mods that were added to it probably hurt the selling price just a tad. In that regard, the new owner got a bit of a bargain. Especially since those modifications are easy to remove, returning this car to a desirable fully stock condition!
