GMG

Global Motorsports Group (GMG) has been successfully working its magic on high-performance cars since 2001. Their specialty is in turning already capable machines up to 11 and optimized for track use. GMG president and owner James Sofronas have a special affinity for Porsches. That's why the company has developed this robust tuning package for the popular 911 GT3 RS.

Street-Legal Rally Car

“Our company started out of a passion for motorsports and racing,” Sofronas remarks. “We have a 30,000-square-foot facility dedicated to supporting our clients’ needs with maintenance, aftermarket-performance tuning, and turnkey customer-racing programs.” The Santa Ana, CA-based company has aimed to focus the performance of the 911 for rally drivers, while still maintaining Porsche's street-legal standards.

Improved Handling

One might not think there's any weight saving to be extracted from the already lightweight 911 GT3 RS. But the folks at GMG have managed to do just that through the incorporation of more carbon fiber body parts courtesy of 1016 Industries. GMG's special aero pieces, including the front splitter and that hard-to-miss rear wing, add a decent amount of downforce. Working in tandem with the weight reduction efforts, the exterior upgrades result in added mechanical grip and improved handling.

Added Power

The GMG package doesn't stop there, though. There's also a bump in power, courtesy of a few uncomplicated upgrades to the system. Los Angeles-based shop Gintani's work on the engine brings the output up to 580 horsepower. And a straight pipe helps the motor breathe more freely, and sounds a lot more violent, too!

Sinister Looks

Designed for collector Harrison Woodruff, the Porsche featured in this slideshow gets a sinister look to go along with the newly gained performance. The all-black aesthetic is achieved via a 3M matte wrap. A look behind the custom center-lock aluminum wheels will reveal the Lizard Green brake calipers. The loud shade of green serves as an accent color in a few different spots on the exterior, as well as throughout the interior.

Inside the cabin, the Lizard Green has a more dominant presence, covering part of the seats, the seat belts, and the roll cage. The final touch of bright green comes in the form of LED underglow for the 911. Woodruff has been enjoying the rowdy GMG 911 GT3 RS in several rally events, and plans to participate in many more in the months to come, including the Run to Monaco, making the most of the improved package.
