Rare Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 Is the Purest of the Pure
For those who like to shift their own gears and drive naturally-aspirated cars, this Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 offers an unparalleled experience.
Purist's Dream
Much ado has been made over the years about "pure" driving cars. And Porsche, of course, has made some of the best ever. But with turbos and quick-shifting automatics taking over the world, purist cars seem to be endangered. Which makes this beautiful GT3 RS 4.0 up for grabs at Mecum Auctions all the more desirable.

Rarefied Air
A mere 600 of these stunning cars were produced, and with just 3,970 miles on the clock, this one figures to be one of the lowest mileage examples left. And it's so special that Mecum figures it will one day be lumped in a category with cars as legendary as the 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS.

Mezger for the Win
How to they make that bold claim, you ask? Well, this is the last 911 GT3 equipped with a Mezger engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. And Hans Mezger-designed powerplants are legendary for powering cars such as the 930, 934, 935, 956, 962 and GT1.

Heart Breaker
And when the 991-gen GT3 RS debuted, it did so with a PDK transmission in place of the old 6-speed. And that development was rather heartbreaking for us purists, even if it did make the car faster.

Something Special
This car, on the other hand, requires a little more interaction from the driver. And its 4.0-liter, 500 hp flat-six is truly divine as well. It's packed with several parts donated straight from the RSR racer, in fact, making it something special.

Going on a Diet
In typical Porsche fashion, the GT3 RS also features a host of lightweight components including carbon fiber front fenders, front decklid, and rear wing. The total weight comes in at a svelte 2,988 pounds.

The typical widebody look serves more than just a visual purpose, of course. It also makes room for those massive lightweight center-lock wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

This Carrera White beauty with Silver and Red accents also packs quite the brake upgrade, with carbon-ceramic disc brakes and vented rotors. And of course, a massive adjustable rear wing to create copious amounts of downforce.

Purest of the Pure
Unlike most other automakers, Porsche has continued to produce purist cars. But this generation of the 911 GT3 RS is often called the purest of the pure. And for those of us that appreciate a connected driving experience, that means everything.
