Colors of the Rainbow

Porsche has long been known for not only providing a wide array of color choices on its vehicles but also giving customers infinite choices via Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and its Paint to Sample program. The automaker also celebrates its colorful past each year with the Rare Shades show, which just celebrated its fifth installment, and Road Show was on hand to capture the whole thing on film.

Perfect Setting

Rare Shades 5 took place at the Summit Skywalker Ranch north of San Francisco and is put on by the folks at 000 Magazine and PTSRS, a popular Porsche-focused Instagram account. A grand total of 52 cars showed up for the event, along with hundreds of eager fans.

Vast Array

Those 52 cars spanned pretty much the entire spectrum of Porsche's past, including a 1953 Slate Gray pre-A 356 and a Signal Green 2021 911 Turbo S. Grouped by color, these cars came from all over the United States to help demonstrate the vast array of hues offered by the automaker over the years.

Many Hues

The colors on display were just as diverse and included Cassis Red, Cream White, and Lido Gold. Those taking advantage of the Paint to Sample program can choose from pretty much any color from Porsche's past, though it will cost them around $12,000.

Viability Testing

Additionally, Paint to Sample Plus allows customers to choose virtually any color from any source, including other automakers. That process can take months, however, as Porsche has to put those colors through feasibility testing before those cars can be produced.

One-of-One

Porsche's Paint to Sample program has exploded in popularity recently, creating a demand that took the automaker by surprise. Regardless, it's easy to see the appeal of choosing one's own color and perhaps even having a true one-of-one.
