Rendering Imagines What Electric Porsche Pickup Might Look Like

Porsche has made it clear that they'll build many more electric vehicles, but will that lineup ever include a truck?

Intriguing Concept

Porsche has made it very clear in recent years that fully electric vehicles are the future. The Taycan might be their first all-electric production vehicle, but it most certainly won't be the last. Regardless, one thing we can't imagine Porsche building and selling is a pickup of any sort, which makes this interesting rendering from graphic artist Adel Bouras rather intriguing. Bouras took inspiration from the Taycan to create his luxury performance hauler and even gave it a name - Traykan.

Making a Case

On the surface, it might seem a little silly for Porsche to build a truck of any kind. But the likes of Rivian, Tesla, Hummer, and Ford are all working on their own EV pickups, so why not Porsche? After all, electric vehicle buyers are a little different from those who stick to internal combustion power and typically enjoy a little more luxury than your traditional pickup buyer. Add in the fact that today's truck buyers are gravitating more and more toward higher trim levels, and you've got a real business case here.

Looks Like a Porsche

If this pie-in-the-sky idea was to come to fruition, the Traykan does look like it could slot right into Porsche's lineup. The truck's styling borrows cues not just from the Taycan, but also the current Cayenne while offering up some unique elements as well. Familiar cues include the thin rear taillight, quad-beam headlights, and the overall shape of the front end, to name a few.

Unique Styling

Of course, there are enough unique styling elements here to set the Traykan apart from current Porsche models and lend it the futuristic look that EV buyers enjoy. That includes the Tesla-like one-piece windshield that doubles as a panoramic roof. Along with the Audi R8-like "blades" that visually differentiate the bed from the cab.

Rugged Elements

The Traykan concept has enough rough-and-tumble styling cues to make it appealing to pickup truck buyers as well. Things like the plastic-looking wheel well pieces, "scoops" on top of the roof, and an aggressive front end design with integrated fog lights and diffuser. Out back, the obviously fake exhaust pipes are integrated into the bumper, framing a black rear diffuser.

Nice Mix

The overall design is a nice mix of futuristic, modern Porsche, and rugged high-performance hauler. And it certainly seems like something that could be built and sold in the real world, especially in the coming years when electric vehicles begin to outnumber gas-powered transportation.

Realistic Proposition?

Whether or not Porsche would ever decide to actually build a truck, well, that's another story. For now, the automaker seems content with cranking out SUVs and crossovers while also maintaining the sports cars that catapulted it to prominence. But as they say, you just never know what the future might hold.
