1. The O.G. Of Porsche Recreations

These days, Singer gets all the press when it comes to 911 recreations. And for good reason. After all, they crank out perhaps the most beautiful air-cooled Porsches on the planet. For most, Singer Porsches represent the ultimate evolution of the classic 911. But long before Singer came along, there was a little outfit by the name of RUF, kinda doing the same thing. As far back as the 1970s, in fact. And their latest creations are well worth a look.

2. Turbo R Limited

For starters, let us present to you the Turbo R Limited. Despite its relatively hefty (for a 911) curb weight of 3,175 pounds, speed isn't an issue. Mostly because the 993-sourced flat-six pumps out an impressive 620 hp with the help of two turbos. That makes the rear-wheel drive beast capable of hitting 212 mph. The only problem? Production of the Turbo R Limited, is, well, limited. And it starts out at just under $600k. But when you're seeking Porsche perfection, that's about the going price these days.

3. Ultimate (Performance)

More obtainable and nearly as fast as the Turbo R Limited, the RUF Ultimate looks to be a better buy unless you're afraid everyone on your block is going to suddenly buy a Porsche recreation. Riding on a 964-equivalent wheelbase with carbon fiber bodywork, the Ultimate weighs in at a lightweight 2,679 pounds. Throw in a twin turbo 3.6-liter flat-six making 590 hp, and you've got the recipe for a 210 mph top speed.

4. (Not so) Ultimate Price

Despite this incredible amount of performance, the Ultimate starts out at an almost bargain price of $472,699. That price also nets you goodies like carbon-ceramic brakes. But some air-cooled Porsche fans obviously prefer naturally aspirated power in their rides, of course. And that's why they offer yet another, turbo-less option!

5. RUF SCR 4.2

For those folks, there's the RUF SCR 4.2. Unlike the other two, however, this one rides on a specially designed RUF chassis that's 7mm longer than a stock 964. But it more than makes up for that extra mass with a carbon fiber body weighing in at an scant 24 pounds. Altogether, curb weight for the SCR 4.2 comes in at at a featherweight 2,646 lb.

6. Rev It Up

Obviously, something this light doesn't necessarily need a ton of power. But RUF is giving it to you anyway. The naturally aspirated, water-cooled 4.2-liter flat-six under the hood of the SCR pumps out an impressive 525 hp with a lofty redline of 8,500 rpm. And you'll enjoy listening to it bounce off the rev limiter all the way up to 200 miles per hour. All of that goodness starts out at $527,664 and goes up from there.

7. New, but Old

As is the case with all RUF cars, each of these special rides looks like a 911. But subtle changes abound that give them each a custom look. Those touches include things like deleted rain gutters and other various, smoothed out details. And yet, there are plenty of throwback nods, like the black and white pattern on the carbon-backed bucket seats. Altogether, each of them is downright beautiful. And a nice reminder that long before Singer came along, somebody else was making what we consider to be dream Porsches!
