Turning to Turbo

To date, Singer has worked its talents on a very specific range of Porsche 911 models built from 1989 to 1994, previously excluding Turbo cars. However, that is now set to change, as the company that creates insanely detailed and beautiful "reimagined" 911s will finally work its magic on the iconic Turbo after 10 years in business.

Life Changing

"My first ever ride in a Porsche 911 as an 11-year-old in 1976 left me dry-mouthed and speechless - it was a black 930 Turbo with red tartan seats," said Rob Dickinson, Singer's founder and executive chairman. "Forty-five years on from that life-changing moment I'm excited to present the results of our study that aims to capture the awesome thrill of Porsche's first 'supercar' while reimagining its performance and refinement and collaborating with owners to take both to new heights. I believe it's a fitting tribute to a car that changed my life and many others."

Consumer Demand

The Turbo Study is Singer's third act, following the prior Classic Study and Dynamics and Lightweight Study. It makes perfect sense for the company, of course, especially since it said that a total of 70 customers have already reserved a Singer Turbo after hounding the company to make one for some time now.

Extensive Updating

Singer will focus on the 964 generation of the 911 Turbo, giving it the same sort of overhaul as its naturally-aspirated machines. That means ditching the stock 3.3- or 3.6-liter flat-six for the more modern 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged mill fitted with an electronic wastegate and air-to-water intercoolers with an output of at least 450 horsepower. Buyers can choose between rear- or all-wheel-drive, while a six-speed manual is the sole transmission choice.

Bespoke Interior

Inside the cabin, the Singer Turbo gets a bespoke interior filled with fine materials including leather, other fabrics, and trim, while the options list is filled with modern amenities such as cruise control, heated seats, and upgraded stereo systems.

Exterior Updates

Of course, the body receives some changes as well, which restyle the Turbo a bit but don't detract from its original charm whatsoever. In this case, the timeless Fuchs wheels are still in place, along with the famous Whale tail rear spoiler, while color choices are essentially endless.

Million Dollar Idea

Pricing for the Singer 911 Turbo has not yet been released, but the company already has a very long backlog of customers waiting to get its other offerings, so we imagine these will be in very high demand as well. Outside of waiting, the best chance to score one will probably be used, but we've seen those sell for over $1 million in recent months, so we can only imagine what the Turbo cars will go for.
