Prized Possession

Any 1989 Porsche Speedster is something special, given the fact that only 823 of them were ever built. But when you add in this particular example's celebrity ownership, that only adds to the appeal. And who wouldn't want to own a Speedster that formerly belonged to legendary Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash? Well now you can, courtesy of Mecum Auctions

Rarely Driven

Now seems like a great time to offer up this special ride, given how Porsche is bringing back its always-cool Speedster. Especially since the heavily-haired Slash didn't drive this one much. In fact, it has only 27,215 miles on the clock.

Raining Black

It also sports an always-attractive triple black appearance, with a black exterior, top, and interior. But what else would you expect from one of the world's foremost rockers?

Super Clean

The chrome Fuchs wheels offer up a nice contrast, however. The interior is also very clean, save for a few creases in the leather on the driver's side seat.

Star-Studded Power

Powering this star-studded ride is the familiar 3.2-liter flat-six engine that features a Bosch fuel-injection setup. It's backed up by a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Paying Homage

Porsche's 911 Speedster paid homage to the original 356 Speedster, of course. But it also came equipped with loads of creature comforts, unlike the older car.

Wide and Luxurious

Niceties included things like air conditioning, power windows, power seats, power locks, and a premium audio system. The vast majority of Speedsters also sported wider fenders, though they could be ordered without them.

Huge Hit

This special combination of goodies proved to be a major hit. Porsche sold all of its limited run of Speedsters in no time, with many of them going for a massive premium over MSRP.

Rockin' Ride

Thus, it's really no surprise that one of the era's biggest stars owned one himself. Heck, we can just envision the rocker driving around in this thing, curly hair flapping in the breeze and top hat sticking out over the raked windshield.

Reliving the Magic

Now, one lucky person is going to be able to relive some of that magic. And who in their right mind wouldn't want to live in those shoes for at least one day?
