Raising the Bar

Since the Safari Porsche became a hot thing a while back, we've seen some pretty incredible examples of these off-road 911s. Some are more about function than form, others the opposite, and a few take both into consideration. But this amazing, blacked-out safari Porsche 911 owned by Kai Burkhard raises the bar considerably, thanks to its impeccable attention to detail.

Going Faster

Dubbed the Syberia RS, this 911 started life as an import to Germany from Japan that was in pretty nice shape at the time. Burkhard was looking for an off-road toy but wanted something that was a little faster than your average giant truck. So he teamed up with German suspension company H&R and set out to make his dreams a reality.

Jump Ready

As you might imagine, H&R handled all of the suspension work, giving this old Porsche a new lease on life with a custom, fully adjustable setup. Major work was performed underneath, including the addition of several supports to keep everything in one piece after Burkhard inevitably jumps the car over some steep inclines.

Business Cabin

The interior is clean and purposeful, with Recaro seats, a roll cage, Momo steering wheel, and a massive gear lever. Though it's certainly all business, the level of detail here is just as impressive as the rest of the car. But that clearly won't stop Burkhard from using it as intended.

Rugged Looks

The exterior of this rugged looking safari Porsche has been treated to plenty of changes as well, including things like a roof rack, new bumpers, rally lights, a center-exit exhaust, and RS-style spoiler. It rolls on Fuchs wheels, which are wrapped in knobby Hankook DynaPro Mud Terrain tires.

Too Nice?

Many of the details of this gorgeous 911 remain shrouded in mystery, but it's clearly gone through one heck of a transformation to get to its current state. This thing looks almost too good to beat on off-road, but we seriously doubt that Burkhard will allow that to keep him from enjoying his sweet new rig.

Next Best Thing

The Syberia RS certainly isn't the first safari Porsche on the planet, and it definitely won't be the last, either. But for now, we think that it's one of the coolest builds out there. Given the immense popularity these things are currently enjoying, however, we're probably not far off from the next best thing.
